NFL Picks Week 10: Home Teams That Will Go Down

Michael DixonNov 13, 2011

How much does home-field advantage mean in football? Well, it means a lot, but it can't overcome everything.

It can't overcome a much better team and it can't overcome a bad matchup of styles. One or both of these apply in all of these games.

I actually have more than just these home teams losing this week. Still, these are by far the most likely losers.

Unlike the other teams listed, the Seahawks are not a playoff contender. But unlike the other teams listed, they have absolutely no chance at winning.

The Ravens are not always the most consistent team, but they generally come through in a big way when they have to. The loss to the Jaguars is not going to happen often.

The Seahawks don't have the defense that the Jaguars have, and the Ravens will use Ray Rice an awful lot. This will be an easy Baltimore win.

As much as I don't trust the Bills' defense against a team with big playmakers, I don't trust the Cowboys' offense against an aggressive defense.

I also like the Bills' offense to control the game when they have the ball. Ryan Fitzpatrick is a good quarterback, and Fred Jackson is really one of the better backs in the league this year.

It will not be a blowout by any means, but Buffalo will pull this one out.

The Buccaneers really fit the same description as the Cowboys. I know that they are capable of a good game. Actually, they are capable of beating any team in the league. They just aren't getting it done.

The Texans' greatest strengths go right against Tampa's greatest weaknesses. Houston runs the ball very well, and that's what you need to do when you're on the road.

Matt Schaub is not the same quarterback without Andre Johnson; who would be? But he doesn't need to be. The Texans will win this game.
