Manny Pacquiao: Why Pac-Man Is the World's Best
In Pacquiao vs. Marquez, Manny Pacquiao wasn't just the best fighter heading into the ring, he's the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
His versatility as a fighter allows him to bounce from weight class to weight class and his unparalleled offense gives him the upper hand against any fighter he climbs into the ring against.
There are those who contend that Floyd Mayweather, who boasts an unblemished record, would be too much for Pac-Man to handle.
The dream super-fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather has been on and off since November of 2009, and although we may never get to see the fight, Pacquiao clearly has the upper hand.
He has the ability to unleash a flurry of punches that defensive mastermind Mayweather wouldn't be able to elude for an entire fight.
His dominance in multiple weight classes provides the tangible evidence that has many calling him the unquestioned best fighter in the world, but it's his unique combination of offensive speed and power for his size that make him unbeatable at this stage in his career.
Ever since Pacquiao dismantled Ricky Hatton in 2009, knocking him down twice in Round 1 and cleaning him up in Round 2, he's been in the conversation as the best fighter in the world.
After last night, it's even more clear that he belongs in a class of his own. Let's hope some headway will be made on the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight so we can finally put this debate to rest once and for all.
