Pacquiao vs. Marquez: Why Pacquiao's “Darling” Status Will Not Affect Fight

Jake MartinNov 12, 2011

Even though Manny Pacquiao is regarded as the most beloved boxer on the planet because of his lovable personality, Pacquiao will get down and dirty against Juan Manuel Marquez.

Pacquiao has stated before that he’s reaching the end of his boxing rope, but he has to get a clear victory over Marquez and a future fight with Floyd Mayweather before he goes anywhere.

Luckily for fight fans, Pacquiao settles the score with Marquez tonight, and after he proves once again that he’s the best boxer on the planet, he has to call out Mayweather.

It’s come down to enough is enough. This fight has to be made. Boxing has been heavily criticized and lost a lot of luster due to the fact that it can’t put together the big fights.

Because of this, the fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao has to be made a reality, and Pacquiao has to do his part. I know it’s not his style, but Pacquiao needs to call out Mayweather.

He needs to get inside his head and get Mayweather emotional enough to accept a fight.

For all those who love Pacquiao, they want him to do this. They want him to show the champion “the almighty” Mayweather that he’s not as invincible as he thinks.

But before Pacquiao can do any of this, he has to take care of business inside the ring. A finish over Marquez would be the perfect finale to what has been an already very entertaining trilogy.

These two go after it in the ring, and if Pacquiao can drop Marquez for a 10-count or get a stoppage, that would be a grand ending to this storybook rivalry.

But then again, if he does that, Mayweather might not come out of his house. Come on Pacquiao, call out Mayweather and make this thing happen.
