Miami Marlins Become Instant Title Contenders with Albert Pujols and Jose Reyes

Jeff ChaseNov 12, 2011

The Miami Marlins are looking to shake up the MLB in their inaugural season by adding stars Albert Pujols, Jose Reyes and Mark Buehrle. Following the addition of eccentric manager Ozzie Guillen and their flashy new uniforms, the Marlins could end up being big players in 2012.

With a new stadium and look, the Marlins are ready to start fresh, and they very much could be if they make all the additions that they intend on doing. They have sneaked into the picture. No one would have thought they would be making the moves that they are following season after season of minimal payroll. Now, they look to nab two of the biggest free agents on the market, while also adding a high quality starting pitcher.

If the Marlins do make these moves, they will instantly become favorites to win the World Series next season. Hype or not, additions like that could make a team potentially jump from 80-82 to a 100-win season. There is no doubting what kind of damage a line-up with Albert Pujols and Jose Reyes would be capable of doing. The thing that should be scaring the rest of the MLB is that the Marlins seem serious, and they intend on winning in 2012.

The Marlins have had success playing with their small payroll, but with their move to Miami they want to become a team built around stars and fear. With Reyes and Pujols, fans should be worried about the potential results when their team is about to face off with the Marlins.

Nothing has been inked yet, but if the Marlins do land Pujols and Reyes, amongst others, they will become one of the better teams in not only the National League, but in the entire league. The Marlins are out to make it big with no hesitations, and that should scare any team looking to contend in 2012.
