UFC on Fox: Pacquiao vs. Marquez Will Ruin UFC Growth Potential
UFC on Fox 1 potentially could be the biggest MMA event to date. The idea that UFC will be showing a heavy weight title match on Fox for free is huge for the up and coming MMA promotion.
Unfortunately for them, they are scheduled on the same night as Pacquiao vs. Marquez III. Although it is a great night for any fighting fan, this will be a problem for Dana White and the empire he is building.
The PPV boxing match is huge, and is much more prevalent to fans of the sport of fighting. While many boxing fans will likely check into the UFC on Fox event, once the Pacquiao-Marquez match starts to get under way, they will be lost. That means they will likely miss the entire point of the event, Velasquez vs. Dos Santos.
What is going to help UFC grow is this fight. It is essential in their growth because it has such huge implications and it is free to watch. The exposure is huge for a sport that is on the rise, and they are essentially showing their Super Bowl for free.
Still, those who are not avid watchers of the sport will either not find any interest to watch the event, or they will be more interested in watching arguably the greatest boxer in the world, Manny Pacquiao.
UFC needs to hope that their early fights will be just as entertaining, even with the smaller implications. People may have a hard time picking up the sport, as things tend to be more entertaining when something is at stake.
They sacrifice on missing out what potentially can become something of their interests because they will be missing the title match.
Without a doubt, tonight's boxing match will take a bite out of the potential crowd for tonight's UFC event. They can only hope that was shown in the earlier parts will be enough to satisfy the potential of a bigger fan base.
