Nebraska vs. Penn State Video: Watch Players Pray at Midfield Before Kickoff
What allegedly happened with Jerry Sandusky and the scandal that rocked Penn State Football is bigger than the game.
Nebraska showed that they stood with their brothers who play for the Nittany Lions, who are currently dealing with tremendous hardship.
Their longtime coach, Joe Paterno, is now gone and the team will never be the same without him.
Sandusky and a number of school administrators are set to stand trial for some of the most heinous acts I have ever heard and an alleged cover-up to protect the program.
It is good that the football program is remaining strong in the face of their adversity.
Every single player and coach from both the Penn State and Nebraska bench ran to mid-field during the pregame warm-ups before their 12:00 p.m. EDT kick off.
They removed their helmets and dropped to a knee, praying with their brethren.
The fans cheered at first and then began to pray in silence themselves. As the players broke out of the huddle, the fans once again erupted.
This Nittany Lions’ team is not going to quit just because they lost Joe Pa. They are going to play their butts off and get him the game ball today. They already showed a ton of heart before the game even started.
Tom Dienhart, writer for the Big Ten Network, is reporting that the players will march to Joe Paterno’s Happy Valley household and present their former coach the game ball if they win.
I think they win this game and stun the Nebraska Cornhuskers. No one is giving them credit for their ability to overcome scandal and heartbreak. I think this motivates them instead of dragging them down.
It was good to see that Nebraska was supportive of PSU in their act of contrition. I expect that kindness to fade as soon as the opening whistle blows, and this should be a battle.
I can’t wait to see how it turns out and what Joe Pa does if he does indeed get the ball.
