Mike McQueary: Penn State Must Terminate Assistant Coach, Not Place Him on Leave
Mike McQueary is not on the Penn State sidelines today in Happy Valley. He should never be back on those sidelines or allowed in Beaver Stadium or use their facilities again.
Not after what he allegedly saw Jerry Sandusky doing in his team's shower room.
According to the official Grand Jury Report on Jerry Sandusky, McQueary (known as the “graduate assistant” before being named by sources) witnessed one of the most disgusting things I have ever heard of happening.
"He [McQueary] heard slapping sounds. He believed the sounds to be those of sexual activity. As the graduate assistant put the sneakers in his locker, he looked into the shower. He saw a naked boy, Victim 2, whose age he estimated to be ten years old, with his hands up against the wall, being subjected to anal intercourse by a naked Sandusky. The graduate assistant was shocked but noticed that both Victim 2 and Sandusky saw him.
"
The fact that McQueary witnessed this happen and did absolutely nothing but call his father should make it easy for the decision for the university to ban him. It’s cowardly and disgusting that he saw what he saw and did nothing. He should be ashamed and punished for that cowardice.
A young man was having his innocence taken and life permanently damaged before his eyes. How could he ever been allowed back on the Penn State campus?
I don’t think he can.
It’s disgusting that Penn State is even putting him on paid administrative leave while they figure this out. He should be terminated without pay and possibly legally prosecuted for not contacting law enforcement.
McQueary is just as guilty as everyone else involved, definitely more so than Joe Paterno and university president Graham Spanier, so he should be gone without question.
Hurry up and get it done.
