Pacquiao vs. Marquez 3: KO Victory Is Only Acceptable Outcome for Pac-Man

Manny Pacquiao has a new right hand.

This is all we've heard from the Filipino's camp as he readied for the third fight in his trilogy with Mexican rival Juan Manuel Marquez.

Pacquiao and Marquez split in their first fight before the world's No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter, Pac-Man, won in a split decision in Round 2. This final bout is different though.

It's personal.

While both Pacquiao and Marquez have been respectful of one another over the year, they don't like each other.

Marquez, who campaigned heavily for a third fight after claiming he was robbed in the second, has angered Pacquiao to a new level.

Pacquiao's conditioning coach was quoted as saying, "I think he just wants to kill Marquez."

Trainer Freddie Roach might not be out there working towards killing Marquez, but he does want to knock him out saying, "That's what we're training him for."

Pacquiao hasn't knocked anyone out in almost exactly two years.

His last three fights—Joshua Clottey, Antonio Margarito and Shane Mosley— have all gone the distance but were unanimous decisions for the eight-time world champion. And that is what Pacquiao does: he dominates for the duration of the fight.

But they're trying to change that this time around.

Pacquiao doesn't have many question marks surrounding his legacy as a fighter, but he would love to have a more definitive outcome in the conclusion of his trilogy with Marquez.

The fact that Marquez believes he was robbed at all still bothers Pacquiao. The only way to finish this for good will be with a knockout win.

Pacquiao knows this, as evidenced by his more aggressive training style and game plan. Just beating Marquez won't be enough this time around, not for Pac-Man and not for his legacy.

There needs to be a knock out tonight and it needs to be on the hands of Pacquiao.
