Pacquiao vs Marquez III: Why Loss Will End Marquez's Career
When Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez meet up for the third time on Saturday night it will mark the end of Marquez’s career of boxing at a high level.
Pacquiao is easily the better fighter of the two, and it will easily show in the night-cap. The 38-year-old Marquez will find himself overwhelmed early on in the fight and will flat-out be embarrassed by Pac-Man.
Marquez fighting at a heavier weight will be a major factor in this fight. He is used to fighting around the 135 lb mark, but this will be a completely different test fighting at 142 lbs. Only a few people in this world can fight at a high level at a different weight (Pacquiao being one) and most struggle to do so.

Even though the weight he put on was muscle, it won’t help whatsoever. If anything, the muscle mass might encourage Marquez to go blow-for-blow with Pac-Man, something he can’t afford to do. If he does, Pacquiao will knock him out.
Where will Marquez go after this fight? He has been talking the talk about how he should have won their two previous fights. Once he loses he will finally have to admit who the better fighter is.
Part of admitting that somebody is better than you means that the confidence and swagger is no longer there. If his confidence isn’t there would he return to the ring? I don’t think so. Not against quality competition anyway.
Marquez will never be able to bounce back after he gets defeated on Saturday night. The loss will officially put him on the doorstep for his retirement. If he isn’t inside the door, he will be on the doormat.
