Pacquiao vs. Marquez: Why Freddie Roach Believes Pac-Man More Focused Than Ever

Eric BowmanNov 12, 2011

Manny Pacquiao will face Juan Manuel Marquez for the third time this Saturday night, and there's no denying how determined Pac-Man is to win this fight.

The first time these two fought was in 2004, and it ended in a controversial draw. The second time around, in 2008, Pacquiao won by a split decision.

However, Marquez has been stating for years that he won both times, which has irritated Pacquiao.

Freddie Roach, Pacquiao's longtime trainer, knows how bad Pacquiao wants this fight, and he told Arash Markazi of ESPN that Pac-Man is very ready for this fight.

"

"This is the best I've ever seen him," Roach said. "He really has a grudge because Marquez wore those 'I Beat Pacquiao Twice' shirts in the Philippines and started campaigning that he got robbed.

"Manny doesn't dislike anyone in the world, but this guy slapped him in the face a little bit and payback's a b----."

"

This is a fight that both boxers really need to win, and one could argue Marquez needs it more. He's 38 years old, and never really had that marquee victory that would consider him one of the greats.

Marquez's antics over the last couple of the years have angered Pacquiao, and he will regret mocking PacMan.

Pacquiao told Markazi that he's taking Saturday's fight very seriously.

"

"[Marquez has] been claiming that he's won the last two fights. I need to go in and end all these issues. This fight will be the answer to all the doubts and all the issues he's been screaming for."

"

While I think this will be a good fight, Pacquiao's speed and power will prevail.

Add in the fact that his focus over the last few months has been on breaking Marquez down, and you have a fighter who will be very tough to beat.

Roach and Pacquiao have a great relationship, and because of that Pac-Man has seen a lot of success.

Roach knows the ins and outs of Pacquiao, and he can see the fierce look in Pacquiao's eyes and how ready is he to take down Marquez.

Pacquiao will win on Saturday night because his determination and focus are far greater than the arrogant Marquez's.
