NFL Week 10 Picks: Woodshed Watch for League's Most Pathetic Teams

Ryan PhillipsNov 11, 2011

Through nine weeks of the NFL season, the league's worst teams have already been established. This weekend two of those squads are all set to get knocked around by superior opponents.

The Minnesota Vikings have been a huge disappointment this season, and their 2-6 record is just one thing that speaks to that. In the offseason the Vikings thought they were a quarterback away from being a playoff team, so they traded for six-time Pro Bowler Donovan McNabb. Let's just say that experiment didn't go so well, and Minnesota turned things over to rookie Christian Ponder after a 1-5 start.

Now Ponder is in charge and things still haven't turned around despite the team having the NFL's fourth-best rushing attack (150.4 yards per game).

In Week 10 the Vikings will be featured on Monday Night Football in a road game against the 8-0 Green Bay Packers. This is a game that should get ugly early on.

The Packers are a juggernaut offensively led by Aaron Rodgers and his ridiculous 129.1 quarterback rating. Green Bay is averaging a league-high 34.4 points per game, while the Vikings and their 30th-ranked pass defense (273.6 yards per game allowed) are surrendering 24.9 points per game.

I see no way Minnesota's pass defense can slow down the roll the Packers are on, and I expect the Vikings to get blown out in this one.

The Seattle Seahawks have started the season 2-6 and boast one of the NFL's most pathetic offenses. The Seahawks rank 29th in the league in total offense, averaging a measly 296.1 yards per game. In Week 10 Seattle welcomes the 6-2 Baltimore Ravens to town in a game that likely won't be pretty.

The Ravens are rolling right now. They boast the NFL's second-best defense (279.4 total yards allowed), and are surrendering just 16.3 points per game (also second in the league). Despite the struggles of quarterback Joe Flacco this season, the Ravens have been able to win by controlling games with their ferocious defense.

Quite simply, the Seahawks will not be able to move the ball against the Ravens. And if you can't move the ball you can't put points on the board. The Ravens will control the clock and rack up a blowout win on the road to move to 7-2.
