UFC 1 on FOX: Velasquez vs. Santos Won't Go the Distance

Michael MillNov 11, 2011

Tomorrow night at 9 p.m. ET, the UFC will kick off it's first ever event for UFC on Fox with the heavyweight championship on the line in the main event.

Current champion Cain Velasquez (9-0) will take on Junior dos Santos (13-1) in what is sure to be a toe-to-toe slugfest in the octagon.

Some people may tune in for their first ever UFC fight tomorrow night on Fox, and they are sure to get a show.

This one is not going to go the distance.

Velasquez is coming off a fight with one of the more feared fighters in the UFC.

On October 23rd, just 4:12 into the first round, the 29-year-old won the heavyweight championship by TKO in his fight against Brock Lesnar.

In fact, Velasquez has won eight of his nine fights by knockout. The only time he failed to do so was in 2009 against Cheick Kongo. He won that fight by unanimous decision.

Don't get it twisted—I'm not saying that Velasquez is sure to win this fight. Junior dos Santos is no slouch, either.

Santos has seen his two most recent fights go the distance, both of which he won unanimously. However, prior to that, he had never been in a fight that went to the judge's scorecards.

If you don't want to pay the money for the Pacquiao and Marquez fight tomorrow, be sure to tune into Fox to check out this showdown.

Don't expect it to go the full five rounds.
