Miami Marlins New Logo: New Regime for Marlins Gives Hope for Brighter Future

Eric BowmanNov 11, 2011

The Florida Marlins will become the Miami Marlins Friday night, and the start of a new chapter hopes to lead to bigger and better things for this struggling franchise.

According to MLB.com, the Marlins will reveal their new logo Friday night at 9 p.m. ET, and fans will soon be able to purchase merchandise in stores as early as Saturday.

The Marlins are taking the right steps to become a better franchise, including a big splash in the coaching department when they hired Ozzie Guillen.

For the last decade the Marlins have been at the bottom of attendance among MLB teams, but changing everything up is a good idea to bring in a bigger audience.

It all started with changing the team name to the Miami Marlins, in hopes to revamp the franchise's image.

Picking a new logo and new uniforms also brought excitement to the Marlins fan base, as many wonder what everything will really look like.

Sports writer David Villavicencio took a picture of what could be the home jerseys for the new Miami Marlins.

That's a simple design that may not amp up the fan base. Still, though, the new logo is going to be colorful, and the fact that it is new helps. People love new stuff.

But none of it will matter if it doesn't translate to ticket sales.

It's great that the Marlins are doing such solid marketing right now, but the games won't be played until the spring of 2012.

It will be a huge challenge for their marketing team to put fans in the seats, but with all the changes they're hoping things work out.

Starting fresh was the best move for the Marlins because it's been years since they were any good.

There were always complaints about the stadium, and it certainly doesn't motivate players when only a few thousand are in attendance to watch them play baseball.

These are happy times in Miami, as the Marlins hope the changes result in more revenue for them.

The future is bright for the Marlins, especially if they get some big pickups in free agency this winter.
