Pacquiao vs. Marquez 3: Just a Precursor to Pacquiao vs. Mayweather

Like Mayweather vs. Ortiz, it's impossible to ignore the fact that Pacquiao vs. Marquez is a precursor to the fight everyone has been dying to see—Pacquiao vs. Mayweather.

While this fight is being built up as the final fight in an epic trilogy, it's only making the public more anxious to witness the superfight we've all been waiting since November of 2009 to see.

The fight has eluded us and until the bell rings, it's impossible to have faith it will ever happen. Even so, the prospect of it going down is more compelling than the tangible fight between a 38-year-old Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao, who has evolved into the world's best pound-for-pound fighter.

Every time we see one of these fighters in action, it becomes clearer that at this stage in their careers, only Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather can challenge one another.

These are two pound-for-pound legends and seeing egos or a blood test get in the way of the fight happening would be a tragedy.

Mayweather took down rising star Victor Ortiz and Pacquiao is going to handle a guy on the back end of his career. These fights spark intrigue, but the outcome is obvious.

What if they climbed into the ring and it wasn't a lopsided affair? What if we all finally got to see the fight everyone has waited years to witness?

This is a fight that can breathe life into boxing like no other matchup can. The revenue will be astounding and the entire world will be captivated.
