2011 Fantasy Football Start/Sit Advice: NFL Week 10

Ryan LesterNov 11, 2011

Here’s a look at LestersLegends sit and start advice as you set your lineups for the tenth week of the NFL season.

Quarterbacks
Start:
Tim Tebow @ Kansas City:  You’re going to get mixed results in the passing game from Tebow, but his legs continue to provide fantasy value. Playing him is not for the faint of heart though because there is definitely risk involved. It’s likely that you have a solid QB in front of him but if you have Flacco, Schaub, Fitzpatrick, Culter, Freeman, or Eli you may want to practice Tebowing.

Sit:
Matt Schaub @ Tampa Bay:  Schaub is still capable of a big passing game but he really doesn’t have to the way the Texans are runnign the ball. Tampa has struggled stopping both the run and the pass but this feels like another heavy dose of Arian Foster and Ben Tate.

Runnings Backs
Start:
Reggie Bush vs. Washington:  Maybe he’s happy that Kim Kardashian is back on the market. Maybe the pizza is giving him a spring in his step. Whatever reason Bush is running like we expected him to when he came into the league with high expectations. The past two games he has 195 yards rushing and 67 yards receiving for a combined 131.0 total yards per game. Washington is a sinking ship taking on water that has allowed 160.8 rushing ypg during its four-game losing streak.

Sit:
Brandon Jacobs @ San Francisco:  Jacobs had a solid game (100 total yards, TD) against a Patriots team that has played well against the run. Well, the Niners are number one against the run with only 70.8 ypg allowed.

Wide Receivers
Start:
Steve Breaston vs. Denver:  Breaston is quietly averaging 72.4 yards in the past five games. Dwayne Bowe will have to deal with Champ Bailey making Breaston a decent option agaisnt a Broncos team that ranks 23rd against the pass (258 ypg allowed).

Sit:
Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon vs. Jacksonville:  The Jags are giving up 197.0 passing ypg and the Colts are lifeless. There isn’t a person on their team that should be in fantasy lineups at this point.

Tight Ends
Start:
Jake Ballard @ San Francisco:  The Niners have allowed 50.5 ypg to a hobbled Fred Davis, Ben Watson, Brandon Pettigrew, and Kellen Winslow the past four games. They gave up 102 (Witten) and 51 (Gresham) earlier in the year. The other two games they faced Seattle and Philly who wasn’t using Celek at the time. Though they have a good defense there should be opportunities for Ballard, who is averaging 68.8 ypg his past four games, to work the middle of the field.

Sit:
Brandon Pettigrew @ Chicago:  It’s true he scored in his first meeting with the Bears but he has only averaged 30.0 ypg over the past four games. If he doesn’t score again you could be left in a  hole at TE.

Defenses
Start:
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Arizona:  The Birds have been a major disappointment this year. Their defense plays their best when they can build a lead, pin back their ears, and get after the quarterback. That should happen in this one, especially if Kolb is out again. The Cardinals have allowed 27 sacks, which has to be music to Trent Cole and Justin Babin’s ears.

Sit:
New York Jets:
Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are in danger of losing a third straight game. It’s a prime time game. Both legends understand the importance of this game and  think they will be up for the challenge. The Jets will also be willing combatants and could ultimately hand them that third straight loss, but I don’t see them shutting the Patriots’ offense down.
