Fantasy Football Week 10: Brandon Jacobs and RBs with Nightmare Matchups

Wes ODonnellNov 10, 2011

The injury bug and bye weeks have affected a number of star running backs this season.

Although Week 16 has no byes, there are still injuries affecting a number of players. And, with no byes, there are some very intriguing matchups to worry about as well.

Here are the top starting running backs with nightmare matchups in Week 10.

LeGarrette Blount, Bucs

Tampa Bay is hosting the upstart Houston Texans defense.

They are currently second in the league against the pass and fourth against the run.

It is a remarkable turnaround, and something that makes everyone wonder how good they could really be if healthy.

As for their opponent, LeGarrette Blount, he is just getting healthy and is now the every-down back for Tampa Bay.

The Bucs have had trouble getting the ground game going consistently and this is not the week to take a risk on Blount.

Rashard Mendenall, Steelers

Mendenhall hasn't been able to get on track all season. He's flashed at times, but with the troubles on Pittsburgh's offensive line, he has yet to truly gain form.

This week they'll travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals, a surprise 6-2 team with a stout defense.

The Steelers are going to win this game, but they're going to have to with a good defensive performance and some work from Ben Roethlisberger. The Bengals are second in the league against the run.

This is simple.

The Giants struggle to run the ball as it is and now have to travel to San Francisco to take on the league's No. 1 ranked rush defense.

Not only is Jacobs not worth a start, but he's not even worth consideration.

Bench. Bench. Bench.

James Starks, Packers

The Packers take on the Vikings this week, the league's No. 5 rush defense.

Green Bay uses their run game only to supplant their offensive attack at times. Aaron Rodgers is simply too good at what he does to ever trust a Packers running back. With the Vikings on the other side of the line of scrimmage he's not worth starting this week.
