Manny Pacquiao's Biggest Threat Is Juan Manuel Marquez
Call it a trap fight, but what was supposed to settle the score could bury Pacquiao if he’s not careful. Thirty eight years old or not, Juan Manuel Marquez is the real deal.
Nothing is scarier than an opponent who knows your every move, and no one knows Pacquiao better. The world may be chomping at the bit to get to the $100 million dollar showdown with Floyd, but all that value goes out the window if Manny gets beat clean in that ring.
Truth be told, that value is greatly diminished if Pacquiao goes the distance in a pretty even fight. Simple victory isn’t enough here.
However, Marquez has a lot at stake at this point in time. Just like Shane Mosley, Marquez is well past his prime and there for big ticket paydays aren’t just waiting for him around the corner. He knows that a win against Manny could give him a big money rematch again Mayweather, and he’s certain that he could drive the price up.
Yes, the name of Shane Mosley was evoked, but that shouldn’t be interpreted to mean anything negative. Mosley didn’t show up for his May fight with Pacquiao. He floated around in the ring like a butterfly but never stung like a bee.
He tried his best from hitting the canvas and in turn kept his no knockout record intact but lost his pride in the process.
But Marquez is different. He’s faced Pacquiao and knows what he can do against him in the ring. He know his every move.
Yes, Pacquiao’s speed has improved, but that doesn’t mean he’s fast enough to capitalize on Pacquiao. With all that is at stake it could end up being and immense moment for Marquez and Pacquiao shouldn’t take anything for granted.
