Pacquiao vs. Marquez Odds: What Manny Pacquiao Must Do To Win

Brian MaziqueNov 12, 2011

Focus..focus...focus, that is essential for Manny Pacquiao as he enters his third fight with Juan Manuel Marquez. There is much at stake and many things that could be a distraction.

Though he is the favorite, he knows Marquez is formidable. The two knock-down, drag-out bouts they've already had are proof of that.

Pacquiao knows Floyd Mayweather is willing to fight him, likely in May of 2012. That said, the worst thing he can do in this fight is lose focus, and look past Marquez.

Manny is the bigger, stronger fighter. He is far more comfortable over 140 pounds; this fight will take place at 144 pounds.

He must press the action, as he always does, and take it to Marquez. Luckily for him, he won't have to chase Dinamita, Marquez always comes to fight. There aren't many tactical adjustments for Pacquiao to make; he is who he is, it is too late to change that.

He has been successful fighting this way against Marquez—he has dropped him four times in two fights. Pacquiao hasn't been able to finish him, but Saturday night will be different.

Pacquiao needs to finally stop Marquez; there would be no better way to increase the hype for the Superfight and apply pressure to Mayweather. The opportunities will be there, Marquez will make sure of that.

Pacquiao must pressure Marquez—his age and weight will do the rest.
