WWE Survivor Series 2011: Predictions for the Night and What the Future Holds
One of the biggest events of the entire year is finally right around the corner.
Survivor Series, Madison Square Garden, the return of The Rock...it's going to get pretty epic.
And I know this sounds crazy...but The Rock & John Cena vs. Awesome Truth isn't the only match on the card. There's actually other less important matches that will fill up a good two-and-a-half hours of this PPV.
So what will be going on during this two-and-a-half hours? A lot of things actually, and some of these things could drastically alter the entire landscape of the WWE.
Here's a little list of predictions, and what it'll mean for the future as 2011 comes to a close.
Divas Title Match: Beth Phoenix vs. Eve Torres
1 of 8Let's just get this one out of the way quickly.
Winner: Beth Phoenix
What's Next?: Alicia Fox seems next in line for a possible title match. I hope that's the case since it would be a nice little change from the usual. Plus, Phoenix should keep continuing her dominance over every possible diva she can on the roster.
5-on-5 Elimination Match: Team Orton vs. Team Barrett
2 of 8Nothing like a classic Survivor Series match to get the ball rolling.
Randy Orton, Sheamus, Kofi Kingston, Mason Ryan & Sin Cara vs. Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger & Hunico
Oh joy!
First Elimination: Hunico.
He's made some pretty big strides in the WWE since they removed his mask, but there's no reason why he should get any more spotlight than he's currently getting. Expect him to beat up on Sin Cara a little bit, a few quick high-flying spots, and his cronies to possibly get involved, but it'll be a very quick night for him.
Second Elimination: Kofi Kingston
Kingston was basically thrown into this match because his partner Evan Bourne is currently suspended. He'll have a few shining moments, but expect a younger, more dominant heel like Wade Barrett or Cody Rhodes to get the better of him.
Third Elimination: Sin Cara
A few acrobatics, some love from the crowd, and then Sin Cara can go and end his night early. Much like Kingston, expect a young heel to take him out. Putting Team Barrett up by one early on.
Fourth Elimination: Jack Swagger
The All-American-American will be next to go down, most likely at the hands of either Mason Ryan or Sheamus. Then I predict Vickie Guererro to scream really loud.
Fifth Elimination: Mason Ryan
How are they actually going to take down this behemoth? No clue. But I think it'll be thanks to a little outside interference, maybe even by Brodus Clay. If not, the safe bet is Ziggler.
Sixth Elimination: Dolph Ziggler
Dolph's night will end in the same way Christian's would have ended if he wasn't injured...With a brogue kick to his skull. Once again...the odds are evened for both teams. Expect a beat down outside by a pissed off Mason Ryan too.
Seventh Elimination: Sheamus
Like Ryan, interference will do the Celtic Warrior in. I expect a heel to occupy the incompetent ref just long enough for someone to take advantage. It'll be a difficult task though nonetheless.
Eighth Elmination: Cody Rhodes
This was a tough call, but since the Rhodes-Orton feud is basically over, and Barrett is being pushed to the moon, Cody is the odd man out. A quick RKO and Rhodes will be out the door.
Ninth Elimination: Wade Barrett
Barrett's little "resurrection" is put on hold for a little after he runs into SuperOrton. Just the fact that he's gotten this far though proves that Barrett's rise is just beginning.
Winner: Randy Orton
Come on...did you really expect anything different? The biggest star in the match will win and most of the MSG crowd will be pleased. With no real storyline behind this match it's the best, and most logical option.
What's Next?: Not too much. It'll probably spark a nice little feud against Orton and Barrett that will hold things over though in the meantime, at least for a month or so. They seemed to build something promising on SmackDown the other day.
As for the rest of the guys, they'll probably forget about this whole match by Monday.
Kevin Nash Returns to MSG
3 of 8Two weeks in row now, Kevin Nash has shined on Monday Night Raw, cutting good promos and looking 10-years younger.
With the history he's had at MSG, there's no way we won't see him again on Sunday. It'll definitely be bittersweet being in the same arena where he won his first WWF title.
I'm also going to swing for the fences and predict a little more than just a short Nash promo about how he got the biggest pop at the Royal Rumble again. Someone's going to confront him about this whole thing, the only question is who it will be.
Shawn Michaels may show up. Why not? Two of his closest friends have become sworn enemies. Any good friend would step in a try to fix things, especially now that his former DX brother is sitting at home with a broken neck.
Speaking of that guy, maybe a HHH return is closer then we thought. HHH vs. Nash is heavily rumored for TLC, so why not get the ball rolling in the greatest arena in the world?
Either way, I'm pretty excited for another Nash promo, and that sweet nWo music.
Another Mick Foley Appearance?
4 of 8Why the hell not. Like Nash on the previous slide, Mick Foley returning to MSG would be a huge moment no matter how it went down.
Hopefully he'll show up to cut a little promo about The Rock and Cena again, and make up for that horrible This Is Your Life that he did to John Cena on Raw.
I'm surprised that everybody didn't turn off Raw during that segment. Like an idiot, I watched the whole thing, hoping it would get better. It didn't.
Still, Foley will forever be the man, and if he shows up at MSG, I'll be quick to forgive him.
World Heavyweight Championship Match: Mark Henry vs. Big Show
5 of 8Mark Henry and Big Show's match last month at Vengeance was the biggest surprise of the night by far.
The broken ring was the climax of one hell of a showdown, and although I don't expect that same outcome, I do expect another solid slobberknocker.
Big Show has been the most focused he's been in years, which makes him practically unbeatable. Unfortunately, he's going up against another unstoppable monster in Mark Henry.
If both of these guys can put on a similar show like last month, then there's no doubt that they can once again steal the show. I do predict Mark Henry to leave with the title though after a grueling match.
I also predict that Henry might actually win in more a typical heel fashion and cheat a little bit in order to come away victorious. He hasn't taken that route yet, but against a guy like Big Show, he may be forced to resort to a new strategy.
I still cannot wait for this match. These two guys just recently put on the best big man match in years, and their battle a MSG should be just a epic.
Winner: Mark Henry
What's Next?: No clue. Henry is plowing through everybody at will, so I have no clue what to expect at this point. It's time though to shake things up a little bit, and I expect the next WHC match to be some sort of triple threat or fatal-four-way.
It'll piss Henry off that he's going to have to up against three other men, and that he won't have to get pinned in order to lose his title.
The Celtic Warrior has become a huge star since turning face, and even though he lost to Henry a few months back, it's time for his second chance. If he can find that old fire that he once had and stops hanging out with Justin Beiber and Muppets, he'll have the best shot to defeat The World's Strongest Man.
After two months away from the main event scene, The Viper will probably jump back into the picture so that 2011 can end on a high note for him.
Wade Barrett in a main event match doesn't seem to far-fetched either at this point either. I can see all three of these guys getting a shot.
Plus, Daniel Bryan is finished making his presence known either. Expect him to continue his little mini-feud with a man five times his size.
WWE Title Match: Alberto Del Rio vs. CM Punk
6 of 8A WWE title match without John Cena...thank the wrestling gods.
This match should be a perfect representation of professional wrestling from beginning to end. CM Punk has proven time and time again that he's the best in the world at his craft, and even with all the critics out there who discourage ADR's every single move, his skills in the ring are still flawless most of the time.
This match is probably the toughest to call all night, since any outcome makes sense.
I'm going to go with CM Punk though. It's a perfect MSG moment for the fans, and since a rematch between these two at TLC is already almost set in stone, the storyline for the next month would basically write itself.
ADR's two short runs as champ may irk a few old-school fans, but it's really not like the WWE title could be anymore worthless at this point. The only guy who can truly save it is CM Punk, and I have no doubt that if he does win, he'll hold it all the way to Wrestlemania.
Time to make the WWE Title interesting again...
Winner: CM Punk
What's Next?: A TLC rematch. Then we'll see if Cena will get thrown back into the picture, or if the WWE will throw us a curveball and give someone else an opportunity to shine. Maybe The Miz or R-Truth will start gunning for the title too.
The Rock & John Cena vs. Awesome Truth
7 of 8The match that we'll all be waiting for. And hopefully it doesn't disappoint.
The Rock's return is going to be epic in every conceivable way, and no matter what happens in this match, there's no doubt that seeing The Great One back in the ring will be enough to make even a casual WWE fan tune in.
The build-up hasn't been tremendous, but when you have a star like The Rock in this match, it really doesn't matter. Still, I would've liked to see Awesome Truth get booked a little stronger, but the animosity between The Rock and John Cena is as clear as it could be, and they can't let their frustration spill over on Sunday if they want to come away with a win.
In my opinion, I highly doubt these two massive egos are going to fit in one ring without conflict, and in the end that's going to cost them the match in a major upset.
Both of these men will do all they can to steal the spotlight of their partner, and in the end, someone is going to screw up just long enough for Awesome Truth to take advantage and steal a win.
I hope this is the case, since as of right now Awesome Truth look like two guys getting thrown to the wolves. Hopefully, they just don't take a brutal beatdown because the WWE wants to display The Rock and John Cena in all their glory.
I pray that this thing is an actual match, and not just a spectacle for two of the WWE's biggest stars. If it is an actual match though, then an Awesome Truth victory would be a perfect way to end the night, and officially begin the long road to Wrestlemania.
Winner: Awesome Truth
What's Next?: Expect Survivor Series to end with The Rock and Cena going at it, resulting in a fight. Whoever comes out on top is irrelevant, since the damage will already be done.
The Rock's return will be ruined, and he'll undoubtedly blame John Cena.
Awesome Truth should continue to wreak havoc on Cena in the next few weeks, resulting in a handicap match at TLC, where Cena will prove that he doesn't need Rocky to take down his enemies. He's good enough to take them down on his own.
Conclusion
8 of 8Thanks for the read guys.
No matter what, I expect this Survivor Series to be great. It could disappoint, but the WWE can't and won't let that happen.
Feel free to comment on what you think will happen at Survivor Series.
