Jeff Hardy Wins the Big One in Armageddon Twist of Fate
It has finally happened: Jeff Hardy has won his first ever World Championship. And it was only a matter of time for me. It was a great Twist of Fate for Hardy that many wished would happen, but never thought it would.
I have been a Jeff Hardy fan since I started watching him in the WWE, so this was a great Sunday for me. It was kind of puzzling to me though, because many thought that Jeff would win at Wrestlemania.
No one ever thought it would be at Armageddon, of all places. He was basically screwed over by Edge and Vickie at Survivor Series and many thought Edge would retain and possibly lose at Wrestlemania to Jeff.
Some are saying that it will not be long for Hardy, though. Many backstage people believe that he will lose it to Edge at the Rumble and then make a surprise appearance in the Royal Rumble match and win.
He would go on to Wrestlemania to win the WWE Title again. I think the WWE may do that because of it being Jeff Hardy holding it. The feeling is that Hardy would be a good champion, but they still don't trust him to stay away from drugs.
Many still remember that Hardy was suspended right before Wrestlemania last year. He missed the Money in the Bank Match that he was supposed to win.
I guess the WWE figured if it is only a month and something happens then it would be okay. The Edge/Hardy storyline looks to be a good one for SmackDown. Since it seems that everyone is a Hardy fan then SmackDown may jump up to be the flagship show.
I do have to give props to Shane Howard who called this. He said that Jeff Hardy would win a World Title first, while I believed it would be The Undertaker. A good choice for many, I thought.
I didn't believe it would happen until I saw what Jeff's brother Matt Hardy said in an interview a couple days after I projected Taker would be the next to win a World Title.
Matt said that he thinks that Jeff will win a World Title sooner rather than later. This is wrestling code for "he will win the big one very soon." Hardy has now won his first World Title and it took forever it seemed for it to happen. I can see him winning a few more since he is so popular in the WWE.
Edge was kind of the same guy Hardy was when he won his first. Many didn't think he would be a good champion, though.
We the fans thought he would, but the WWE did not. That's why Edge didn't hold his first title for a long period of time. It was a good reign, but nothing close to an Orton, Triple H, or Batista reign.
He ended up doing better than the WWE thought and that got him more World Titles. I think the same will happen with Jeff. He may not hold his first long, but the others will last a significant amount of time.
I am so happy Jeff Hardy won his first, but it seems as if the hype for him may be over. We the WWE fans wanted Hardy to win the big one so badly. If you have spent any time on B/R you know the wrestling writers did.
But now that he has won, it seems that we no longer have to cheer him on. Or make sure we cheer louder for him than Triple H or another face wrestler. Not that Hardy is bad or that we are not ecstatic that he won, but now what do we cheer him on for?
He won the World Title, so who do we cheer for now? Sure, you can cheer louder for Jeff, but since he has won we don't have to basically make the WWE give him the title.
If you want to see Armageddon, and you want to see it free without buying it from your satellite or something here is a place you can get it:
I guess we have to pick a new favorite, right? Let me know what you think.
Should we, the WWE fans, still cheer for Hardy?
