NFL Picks Week 10: Vegas Blew It with These Betting Lines

Brian RoachNov 9, 2011

NFL Week 10 is upon us and it seems as if the picks from Vegas are the only thing that fans are relying on for their teams to get that much needed victory. Week 10 means most teams have had their bye week, so now it is time for the betting lines to mean something.

This week there are 10 games that the betting line is off and Vegas really messed up for some of the Week 10 games in the NFL.

Baltimore Ravens at Seattle Seahawks (+7)

1 of 10

The Baltimore Ravens are one of the elite teams in the NFL and they were able to show it against the Pittsburgh Steelers with an outstanding rally on their final drive of the game to win 23-20.

In Week 10, the Ravens get a weak 2-6 Seattle Seahawks team who they should dominate. Sure, the Seahawks got back quarterback, Tarvaris Jackson, back, but that won't be enough to keep this game close. The Ravens should be able to win by double digits and the line should be +12 at the lowest.

New England Patriots at New York Jets (-1.5)

2 of 10

The New England Patriots have lost two straight games and the latest loss game on the final drive of the game with 1:40 left where the Patriots' defense could just not stop Eli Manning from getting down the field.

This week, the Patriots get a stingy New York Jets defense and there is no doubt in my mind that Tom Brady and the Patriots will bounce back with a victory instead of losing their third straight.

This game will be close, but it should be New England favored at +3.5. It is an away game, but the Patriots need to win after two poor outings in a row.

Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers (-13.5)

3 of 10

The Minnesota Vikings are coming off a bye week and in Week 10 get the undefeated Green Bay Packers.

The last time these teams met, Christian Ponder was able to easily command the offense of the Vikings and the final score was 33-27.

Ponder should be able to have another great outing and the betting line should be closer at -7.5. The Vikings defense will give up a lot of points to the Packers' offense, but the Vikings are now a threat to score with Ponder getting the nod at quarterback.

Detriot Lions at Chicago Bears (-2.5)

4 of 10

There is no way that the Detroit Lions come into Chicago without putting up a fight. The Lions have too many offensive threats for the Chicago Bears to stop, and the betting line should be in their favor.

The Bears do not stand a chance against the Lions. The Lions are 4-0 on the road and the Bears are 3-1 at home. The ability to dominate on the road is great for the Lions.

The line should be at +3.5 for the Lions because of their stout defense and their ability to move the ball down the field with Matthew Stafford at the reins of the offense.

Oakland Raiders at San Diego Chargers (+7)

5 of 10

The San Diego Chargers are one of the better teams in the NFL, but with a 4-4 record and a tie for first place with the Oakland Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC East, this game is one of the best matchups this week.

The betting line should be closer. The Raiders will make a game out of it and the line should be +3 in favor of the Chargers.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinatti Bengals (+3)

6 of 10

Ben Roethlisberger has been playing great football of late and the Pittsburgh Steelers should be favored at +7 due to the fact that they lost last week in the final minutes against a really good Ravens teams.

"Big Ben" should have another great game and get the Steelers back on to the winning track.

Houston Texans at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+3)

7 of 10

The Houston Texans offense has been on a tear of late and this week should be no different against a struggling Tampa Bay Buccaneers squad. The betting line is too low and should be at least +7 due to the struggle of Tampa Bay and the success of Houston.

Tampa Bay does have the potential to upset, but I see the Texans running away with this game early in the second half.

New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons (PK)

8 of 10

The New Orleans Saints bounced back with a much needed win in Week 9 and the Atlanta Falcons are flying high with a three-game winning streak coming into Week 10.

Either team could win this game which is why there is no betting line who favors any one team. The Falcons are the home team, so they are the slight favorite, but the Saints should be the ones favored at +2.5. The Saints defense has begun to step their game up and the Falcons have a great offense that can score at will.

This will be the closest game in Week 10 and will be the best game of the week.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts (+3)

9 of 10

The Indianapolis Colts are 0-9 and are facing a struggling Jacksonville Jaguars team that is looking to get back in the playoff hunt. There is no way the Colts get their first win of the season anytime soon.

The line should be at least +10. Jaguars have their fair share of struggles, but the Colts are just falling off the map without a strong quarterback and a strong running game. Their defense has also struggled, so look for the same trend to continue.

Washington Redskins at Miami Dolphins (-3.5)

10 of 10

Now, now, Vegas, hold your horses on this one. The Miami Dolphins being favored? This is a joke, right? They just got their first win of the season and they are being favored?

Sure, Matt Moore has been a viable threat at the quarterback position for the Dolphins, but there is no way he can continue his dominance.

John Beck will tear apart the Dolphins' defense and will lead the Washington Redskins to victory. The line should be +5.5.
