WWE News: John Morrison Exit Diaries (Day 21): JoMo's Losing Streak Ends

Alfred KonuwaNov 9, 2011

Big Nasty will be keeping a running diary of what appear to be John Morrison's final days in the WWE.  There have been numerous rumblings that Morrison's contract is expiring and will not be renewed.  As a result of this, among other circumstances, Morrison has been booked into the ground on his way out of the door.

John Morrison hasn't been relevant since being in the WWE title picture earlier this year, and putting forth a rather formidable performance inside of a steel cage.

The WWE did everything in their power to remind their fanbase of such, with an expose detailing Morrison's in-ring struggles that have translated to the athletic WWE superstar going without a win since August.

Morrison was quoted in the article, that made mention of his neck injury and asked whether or not he came back to early, saying, rather peculiarly:

"

I came back a little bit too early. Physically, I’m here. Spiritually, I’m out of my mind. I’ve got all these things going on in the periphery.

"

LIVERPOOL, Eng.—November 7.  The fact that the WWE had taken the time to point out Morrison's hard time could be seen as damning for the WWE Superstar, but a match on RAW with Dolph Ziggler that integrated his losing streak could mean one of two things: (1) Morrison's losing streak will become part of a storyline a la MVP, or (2) Morrison's losing streak will come to an end at the expense of a similarly struggling Dolph Ziggler.

It doesn't hurt that whispers of Morrison's relationship with longtime girlfriend, and former WWE Diva, Melina have now turned into jilted screams.  Those who are into reading between the lines could surmise that the two are no longer an item by simply taking a gander at recent tweets posted by Melina herself:

"

I haven't met Mr. Right yet. But I have met Mr. Fake, Mr. Rude, Mr. Wrong & Mr. Player.

"

If I were to venture to take a guess as to which one Mr. Morrison was, I'd say option B.  Trish Stratus would surely agree.

Dolph Ziggler vs. John Morrison

During Morrison's entrance, a rather cryptic (if not confusing) losing-streak related tweet was posted for all to see as the announcer's laid out the storyline of Morrison's recent struggles:

"

the speed at which I say "I’m fine" is inversely proportional to how far from ‘fine’ I actually am.

"

Ziggler started the match in a resthold after an unorthodox pinfall combination.  Morrison quickly turned the maneuver around and hit a series of headlock takedowns.

Ziggler came back with a kick to the gut, but was quickly upended by Morrison who it a pancake maneuver for a one-count.  A rear chinlock maneuver was countered by a jawbreaker from Ziggler, followed by another unorthodox pinfall combination, but the referee did not register a count as Morrison's shoulders were not down.

Morrison eluded Ziggler's offense while he was in the corner and he connected with a beautiful kick to the head, but could not capitalize as he took a clothesline from Ziggler for a nearfall.

*COMMERCIAL*

RAW returns from commercial with Ziggler in control of the match as he has Morrison locked in an arm vice.  King and Cole argue as to what has been happening throughout the commercial break as Ziggler continues to dissect Morrison.

Ziggler connects with a pin point drop kick right in Morrison's face for a nearfall as he resumes his methodical assault.  Ziggler is getting increasingly confident and is showing off to Vickie Guerrero with every maneuver.  Ziggler repeatedly taunts Morrison before Morrison explodes and opens up a series of strikes on Ziggler before countered from within the corner for another nearfall.

Ziggler worked over the neck of Morrison as the announcers continue to emphasize Morrison's struggles and the interview he conducted on WWE.com.

A quick rollup counter by Morrison was answered by Ziggler with a clothesline after a kickout as Ziggler continued to work over Morrison's neck.

A neckbreaker account was countered by Morrison, who hit a teeter totter maneuver on Ziggler to start his comeback.  Morrison's comeback was capped off with a crucifix DDT maneuver for a nearfall.

Morrison attempted a Starship Pain but Ziggler moved out of the way and attempted two rollups for nearfalls.  Ziggler quickly got back to his feet and hit the fame-asser for a nearfall.

Morrison came back with a chuck kick, but Guerrero distracted the referee.  Morrison went after Guerrero and Ziggler attempted to capitalized but was rolled up for the win.

Winner: John Morrison

Morrison's losing streak has come to an end.  With his contract situation still somewhat ambiguous, it will be interesting to find out whether his loss was more to get heat on Ziggler or to resurrect a career in serious peril.
