Week 10 Waiver Wire: Andy Dalton and More Big-Point Sleeper QBs

Michael DixonNov 8, 2011

Alright fantasy players, good news is here. There are no bye weeks this week. The Colts, Saints, Steelers and Texans are all off in Week 11, but that's it.

But in Week 10, all 32 teams will be in action. That does place much less of an emphasis on the waiver wire, but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't keep our eyes open for free agents in matchups that will bring big points.

At the quarterback position, the need isn't as great (especially if you have an Aaron Rodgers on your team).

But if you don't have an elite quarterback, or even if you do, take a look at these guys.

Andy Dalton

On the surface, a matchup with the Steelers is not a good one for a fantasy quarterback. But let's dig a little deeper.

The last three weeks have been relatively good performances for quarterbacks opposing the Steelers. Only Tom Brady would fall into the elite category.

If the Steelers win, then Dalton will be throwing the ball and throwing the ball a lot. If the Bengals win, they will not do so without nice performances from Dalton and A.J. Green. Either way, a strong fantasy showing awaits.

Carson Palmer

Despite throwing three interceptions against the Broncos, Palmer was a fantasy stud on Sunday. The Chargers have been a little hit and miss against quarterbacks, but this is a good gamble.

The Raiders have a strong group of receivers for Palmer to sling the ball to. As he gets more accustomed to the offense, those numbers will only increase.

Uncertainty over Oakland's rushing game also looms. They have a lot of weapons, but have lacked some consistency in that regard in recent weeks. That means that Palmer will be throwing. The potential for interceptions is there, but a big yardage day is quite likely.

Blaine Gabbert

This season hasn't been particularly strong for Gabbert as a fantasy player. But he hasn't faced the Colts' defense.

Frankly, I really don't like Gabbert as a fantasy player for the rest of the season. But if the quarterback whose facing the Colts is available, then you need to at least give him a second look.
