5 Videos Showing Why Last Night's WWE Raw Was a Great Show

The Doctor Chris MuellerNov 8, 2011

Last night's Raw was live from Liverpool, England, and I have to say that when I look back on it, it was a great show. I didn't really think too much about it during the actual show, but afterward I looked back at all that had happened and realized it was an above average night.

There was a decent amount of ring time last night, while there was still decent storyline progression through promos and interviews.

Last night was certainly a showcase of WWE's young stars. There was still room for the veterans, though, as we got to see the return of Kevin Nash and the fallout from his brutal attack on Triple H.

I will take a look at last night's show and list five reasons it was a great night for WWE.

CM Punk and Alberto Del Rio's Interactions

1 of 5

Last night we got to see three segments involving Alberto Del Rio and CM Punk, and I thought the way they did it made it feel like it was not overkill.

Alberto Del Rio and Kofi Kingston had a match before the initial encounter. The match was pretty good, but Alberto appeared to be rushing things and made a few mistakes. I think he was trying too hard to come off as angry and tried to do moves to quickly.

After the match Alberto put his cross arm breaker back on Kofi until Punk's music hit. Alberto let go right away and stared up the ramp to see a disappointed CM Punk.

This was a great way to close the match and go to commercial. It made Alberto look like a strong heel and CM Punk look like a strong babyface for making the save.

They came back from commercial for the second segment which was a face to face showdown. Punk and Del Rio each gave their reasons why they will win at Survivor Series. Del Rio tried to get Punk to back off from his title match, but Punk wasn't having it.

They went back and forth before Del Rio attempted a cross arm breaker only to be reversed into an anaconda vise.

The best part of the night was their third segment. Punk and David Otunga had an exchange back stage before Punk attacked him. Del Rio came in from behind and slammed Punk through a table and then kept beating him down.

I am pretty sure the table was not supposed to break, as they were not falling into it from very far, and Del Rio looked a little surprised at first. Overall they had a great night of back and forth where both men came out looking good.

On a sidenote, it looks like they won't be doing anything with the tag titles until Bourne returns, since Kofi is on Randy Orton's team at Survivor Series.

Mason Ryan Is Looking Better Each Week

2 of 5

I have to say that the more I see of Mason Ryan, the more I like him. He is no longer just a carbon copy of Batista to me anymore.

Last night you could tell he was especially excited to be in Liverpool, and it showed as he came to the ring with a giant grin on his face and he took more time than usual to interact with the crowd.

His match with JTG, who I wasn't even aware still worked for WWE, was OK but nothing special. It did, however, show that Mason Ryan is coming along nicely with his progression.

He used multiple moves I had not seen from his before and then finished the match off with a nice Masterlock, sorry I mean full nelson slam.

Mason Ryan is someone who I think has a very bright future in WWE. As long as he doens't cause problems outside the ring and he keeps improving, he could eventually end up being the next Batista.

I remember when Batista first showed up on the scene and some people said he was just another body builder, but he went on to have an amazing run in WWE which included feuds with some of the highest profile stars in WWE history.

Mason Ryan is looking like a good prospect for WWE's future.

Nash Mixes Truth and Fiction

3 of 5

Another of last night's highlights was the return and promo from Kevin Nash. HE came to explain his actions from the other week when he viciously attacked his best friend Triple H with a sledgehammer.

Nash came out with a full beard, that was dyed black like the rest of his hair. He told the crowd that the only person he owes an explanation to was sitting at home in Connecticut with a pretty bad headache.

He went into detail about the history between he and Triple H dating back to their first encounter in a WWF locker room so many years ago.

Nash mentioned how he wasn't sure about Triple H in the beginning but he listened to Shawn Michaels and let him in their cliq.

The fact that they are going this far to mix real life with fiction is something I am very happy about. One of my biggest gripes about WWE is how they always ignore history so to see them actually integrate real life from sixteen years ago into the angle is great to see.

Nash gave another one of his great promos where he talked about still being able to dominate in the ring and if he wanted he could become World Champion on any given night.

It was a good promo and gave some nice progression to their storyline leading into their eventual match down the line.

Zack Ryder Main Events Raw

4 of 5

Woo woo woo you know it. Zack Ryder was all over last night's WWE Raw, and he was used in a great way to keep with his current push.

The night began with Cena, as it usually does. He was in the ring talking about Survivor Series and his match with the Rock. Of course he was interrupted by Miz and Truth who were there to give Cena a beat down.

Cena mentioned he had a tag team match with Awesome Truth on Raw, but with another partner. He proceeded to give every nickname in the world to describe how awesome his partner was.

Miz and Truth began beating Cena before he could say who his partner actually was, but when Ryder's music hit we all knew he was talking about Long Island Iced Z.

Ryder came down and helped Cena clear the ring. The two celebrated into the commercial. When Raw came back we saw Ryder talk to the Bellas about his main event match with Cena.

The match was very entertaining and even though they blatantly ignored the rules at numerous points, it was a fun match and we got to see Ryder get a ton of in ring time.

Ryder and Cena performed double five knuckle shuffles at one point to the delight of the crowd.

The thing I liked the most was that after the whole thing was said and done, it was Awesome Truth who actually got the pinfall over Cena.

Even though it was a dirty win, it made Truth and Miz look a little stronger than they had last week. I thought the entire night's events between these four men were very entertaining.

Dolph Ziggler and John Morrison Have the Match of the Night

5 of 5

The best part of the night for me was the match between Dolph Ziggler and John Morrison. These two young superstars showed why they are WWE's future.

They went back and forth most of the match with each man getting good offense in. This match had a little bit of everything. It had mat wrestling, a few high flying moves and a clean finish.

Morrison was on a bit of a losing streak, which some attributed to his relationship with the recently released Melina. To see Morrison get his first win in so many months over a reigning champion was good for him to get back in the game.

Dolph is also involved in a feud with Mason Ryan and Zack Ryder at the moment, and both of those men seem to be looking for title shots, but John Morrison could be in the mix now too after getting a win.

The thing about the match I liked most was the many reversals each guy got on the other. No matter what they did, the other had an answer.

At one point there was a close botch but Ziggler saved it. Morrison was going for his flying Chuck kick and Ziggler was way too far away and you could see him run over and put his head right in the way of the kick to save the spot.

Both men looked good in this match, and with the finish being not only clean, but without the use of a finisher, I think this easily took match of the night.

What did you think of last night's Raw from Liverpool?
