Penn State Scandal: Why Joe Paterno Is a Coward
As a Penn State fan and former student, the actions of former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky as well as the lack of action by the Penn State authority figures are despicable.
That means PSU football god Joe Paterno is just as responsible as the charged men.
In my opinion, there is no way Joe Pa didn’t know the ghastly details of these heinous acts, and the fact that he never called the police makes him just as responsible for the lack of punishment as the others indicted in this case.
While he never lied to authorities or anything along those lines to our knowledge, he still knowingly ignored the situation.
"If this is true, we were all fooled, along with scores of professionals trained in such things. While I did what I was supposed to with the one charge brought to my attention, like anyone else involved, I can't help but be deeply saddened these matters are alleged to have occurred.
"
Paterno claims to have known only that Sandusky was showering with a young boy in the locker room, and immediately reported that to the athletic director of the school.
Leaving it there is not enough—especially with the clout Paterno carries on the Penn State campus. An immediate call to police could have stopped further sexual abuse and prevented more trauma.
With Sandusky free to pretty much do whatever he wanted, countless lives have been ruined because of the lackluster efforts from Joe Paterno and the PSU athletic department.
There is blood on many people’s hands, and Joe Paterno is not exempt.
