NFL Week 10 Picks: Dolphins and Top Home Favorites to Avoid

Eric BallNov 8, 2011

Stop overreacting.

Just because the Miami Dolphins won a game doesn’t mean you should jump on the bandwagon.

For some absurd reason, the 1-8 ‘Fins are 3.5-point favorites at home against the Washington Redskins.

Sure, the Redskins have been awful of late, but these are the Dolphins we are talking about. A team that starts Matt Moore at quarterback and Reggie Bush at running back shouldn’t be favored in any scenario.

Last week’s romp of the Chiefs was a product of a letdown situation Kansas City found themselves in after an emotional victory on Monday night the week before.

The Redskins' pass defense is too good to allow Moore to move the ball with any sort of consistency.

Factor in that the Dolphins are horrible at home, and you need to take the points in this situation.

Prediction: Redskins 17, Dolphins 16

Here are two other home favorites to avoid in Week 10:

(Spreads courtesy of Covers.com)

Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs -3.5

Both teams are bottom-feeders, yet both are in the thick of things in the lousy AFC West.

Tim Tebow is not the greatest passer, but he is incredibly difficult to tackle. He really is like a Bronco the way he gallops down the open field.

The Chiefs aren’t a very disciplined defense, ranking in the bottom tier of the league against both the run and the pass.

I expect them to fall for all of the unconventional fakes that the Broncos offense is now incorporating. The Broncos will run the Chiefs into the ground, beating them at their own game.

Jackie Battle did not look like a featured back against Miami, and if the Chiefs can’t get him going early, they are in big trouble leaving the game in the hands of QB Matt Cassel.

Take Tebow and the points.

Prediction: Broncos 20, Chiefs 17

Tennessee Titans at Carolina Panthers -3.5

In what crazy world is a 4-4 team with a veteran QB with Super Bowl experience giving over three points to a rookie QB and the worst team in the league over the past two years?

Cam Newton certainly is exciting, and a terrific playmaker, but he isn’t winning games. The Panthers' running game has fallen off a cliff and their defense is young, slow and devastated by injuries.

RB Chris Johnson recorded over 100 yards of total offense last week against a stout Bengals defense as he finally looks to be getting back on track after a first half to forget.

People have been waiting for this…CJ2K gets his nickname back this week.

Prediction: Titans 31, Panthers 24
