The Most Fit Athletes in Sports

Obviously most professional athletes are pretty fit, otherwise they wouldn't be professional athletes.  

But there are some athletes who take physical fitness to a whole new level. Sure nobody will sign Terrell Owens to play receiver on their team, but there's no shortage of sports broadcasters who are willing to compliment on his ability to model underwear.  

Here are the top 15 fittest professional athletes.  

15. Usain Bolt, Olympic Sprinter

Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt is a a five-time World Champion and three-time Olympic gold medalist. He holds the world and Olympic records in the 100 meters, 200 meters and 4x100 meter relay.

Bolt is known as a laid back, and extremely confident, guy who doesn't shy away from the limelight.    

14. Alex Rodriguez, New York Yankees,

New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez is the youngest player to ever hit 500 home runs, as well as the youngest player to hit 600. He's the highest paid player in the history of Major League Baseball, deservedly so. 

A-Rod gets mostly bad press for his detached demeanor and penchant for coming up short in October. Off the field issues have included his admission to using steroids and recent involvement in a gambling scandal.  

13. Vernon Davis, San Francisco 49ers

San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis was drafted 6th overall in the 2006 NFL Draft and his rookie contract made him the highest paid tight end at the time. Injuries hampered Davis' first three seasons in the NFL, but he had a breakout season in 2009 and is currently among the best at his position.  

David made a cameo appearance in the music video for the song "Get Lo" by Los Angeles Lakers' forward Ron Artest and rapper Mike Jones.

12. Brady Quinn, Denver Broncos

Former Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn was drafted by the Cleveland Browns int he first round of the 2007 NFL Draft.  Quinn failed to earn a starting job with the Browns and was traded to the Denver Broncos in 2010, where he is currently the second (or third?) QB behind Tim Tebow.  

Quinn is currently dating American Olympic gymnast Alicia Sacramone.  

11. Dwyane Wade, Miami Heat

Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade was named the 2006 Sportsman of the Year by Sports Illustrated and remains one of the most popular players in the NBA.  D-Wade plays Batman to LeBron James' Robin.  

Wade has been featured in a number of publications such as GQ, who named him the Best Dressed NBA player in 2006, and Esquire, who named him one of the Best Dressed Men in the World for 2007.  

D-Wade had a well publicized divorce with high school sweetheart Siohvaughn Funches and is currently dating actress Gabrielle Union. 

10. Jason Taylor, Miami Dolphins

Pittsburgh native Jason Taylor is in his 14th season in the NFL and currently plays for the Miami Dolphins.  Taylor played the majority of his career for the Dolphins but had brief stints with the Washington Redskins (2008) and the New York Jets (2010).  

In 2008 Taylor performed on ABC's Dancing with the Stars and placed second in the competition.  Olympic figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi won.  

9. Blake Griffin, Los Angeles Clippers

Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin missed his entire first season with a broken left kneecap.  He rebounded in 2010-11 and was named NBA Rookie of the Year in addition to winning Slam Dunk Contest at the 2011 NBA All-Star Game.  

Griffin is one of the more popular players in the NBA and has landed a number of lucrative endorsement deals, including: EA Sports, Subway, Kia and AT&T.

8. Reggie Bush, Miami Dolphins

Miami Dolphins specialist Reggie Bush was drafted second overall by the New Orleans Saints in the 2006 NFL Draft.  Bush has a better body than body of work in the NFL, and is best known for almost single handedly causing the demise of the USC football program.  

Bush had a high profile romance with reality star Kim Kardashian after Matt Leinart introduced them at the 2007 ESPY Awards.  The pair split in 2010, a few months before she met met New Jersey Net Kris Humphries.  

7. Ryan Kesler, Vancouver Canucks

Vancouver Canucks center Ryan Kesler is an American-born hockey player who attended Ohio State University and played for the 2010 Winter Olympic team which one the silver medal.  

Kesler was the cover athlete for 2K Sports' NHL 2K11 and has been named one of the Most Beautiful People in British Columbia. 

6. Steven Jackson, St. Louis Rams

St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson was selected 24th overall by the Rams in the 2004 NFL Draft.  Right after the "Greatest Show on Turf" and just in time for St. Louis' decade of pathetic futility.  

Jackson was actually born in Las Vegas, Nevada, which just seems weird. Surely people are born there every day but have you ever seen a baby in Las Vegas?

5. Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic

Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard forwent college and entered the 2004 NBA Draft and was selected first overall by the Magic.  Howard is a five-time NBA All-Star and a three-time Defensive Player of the Year.  

Howard has a son (Braylon) with Royce Reed, a former Orlando Magic Dancer and former cast member of VH1's Basketball Wives.

4. Carl Edwards, NASCAR

Carl Edwards is a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series race car driver. Edwards was the 2003 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Rookie of the Year and the 2005 NASCAR Bush Series Rookie of the year.  He was also the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series Champion. 

Edwards once dated the oft naked American swimmer Amanda Beard, but married Kate Downey in January, 2009.

3. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, aka Purple Jesus, was selected seventh overall by the Vikings in the 2007 NFL Draft.  Peterson set the NCAA freshman rushing record at Oklahoma, racking up an amazing 1,925 rushing yards as a true freshman in 2004. 

A.P. has a younger brother (Jaylin Brown) who plays high school ball and is also a running back. Peterson lost two other brothers in tragic events before being drafted, one to a drunk driver.  

2. Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid C.F.

Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo plays striker for Real Madrid and is the captain of Portuguese national team. In 2011, Ronaldo became the highest scoring-season goalscorer in the history of Real Madrid.  

Ronaldo is very well known for his colorful personal life and has dated models; Alice Goodwin, Gemma Atkinson and Irina Shayk. He had a son (Cristiano, naturally) in July, 2010 with an American and maintains full custody of the child today.

Free agent wide receiver Terrell Owens was selected the third round of the 1996 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. T.O. had an exceptionally tumultuous career in the NFL and today finds himself looking for word.  

Owens has found himself in the middle of controversy time and time again and his  reputation as a locker room cancer and quarterback killer have more to do with why he can't find work today than his advancing age.
