Bears vs Eagles: Star Watch for Monday Night's Biggest Players

Chris TrapassoNov 7, 2011

The Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears Monday Night Football battle is loaded with superstars.

It is actually hard to find a place to start.

These three individuals will play the biggest role in the outcome of tonight's in the City of Brotherly Love.

LeSean McCoy

McCoy has taken center stage on a Philadelphia Eagles team loaded with freakishly gifted athletes and playmakers.

Michael Vick is still Michael Vick, but with an offensive line that often struggles in pass protection. Andy Reid was forced to lean on McCoy for an offensive spark, and boy, was he rewarded.

McCoy has received an average of 29 carries in the Eagles last two games, and he's rushed for 311 yards with three touchdowns.

He's right up there in the upper echelon of running backs in the NFL today.

It just took him a while to get the amount of carries we've seen from other feature backs because of all the talent on the Eagles roster.

He should play an integral part of that Philly tries to do this evening against Chicago's run defense that's allowing 5.2 yards per carry.

Forte is probably the most under appreciated running back in football, and he's certainly the most underpaid.

Going into this weekend, he led the NFL in total yards from scrimmage (1,091) and is the true life force of the Bears offense.

Chicago has done a much better job protecting Jay Cutler of late, but Forte has been the one to keep the Bears afloat this season.

Against the Eagles susceptible run defense, Forte could also have a huge evening.

We're enamored with the new pass-heavy NFL, but tonight, we're treated by seeing two of the best and most versatile backs in football.

Julius Peppers

I could go on and on about the stars in this game. Besides Forte and McCoy, I don't think anyone is more important than Julius Peppers tonight.

The terrorizing defensive end will have to shoulder some of the responsibility of containing Vick, and if he can consistently create pressure on the Eagles quarterback, Chicago will have a much better chance of winning this huge NFC showdown on the road.

If he's stymied all evening, Vick and his high-powered offense should have no problem moving the football and scoring points.

Is Peppers 100 percent coming off his knee injury?
