NFL Power Rankings Week 10: Ranking the Top Andrew Luck Contenders
The season-long debate in the NFL rages on in Week 10: Which team is going to "win" the No. 1 pick, which presents the opportunity to draft Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck in April's 2012 NFL draft?
Let's run down the top contenders for Luck:
1. Indianapolis Colts (0-9): The Colts are the top contender to land the No. 1 pick, and it's really not even close. Sure, just one win evens them with both the Rams and Dolphins, and any team can win a game on any given Sunday. But I'm not sure the Colts are capable of pulling that off right now. The offense offers nothing, and the defense isn't built to cause turnovers and shift momentum of games like the offense needs. Two wins has to be the absolute ceiling for this Colts team in 2011.

2. St. Louis Rams (1-7): What a roller-coaster ride the last two weeks have been for St. Louis. First, you welcome the Saints into the Edwards Jones Dome and pull off the most improbable upset of the 2011 season. A week later, you travel to Arizona and lay an egg against a team who's missing their starting quarterback. They should be in the running for a top-three pick.
3. Miami Dolphins (1-7): A 28-point win over the Chiefs shows that Dolphins are much better than their 1-7 record indicates. Don't get me wrong: this is still a poor football team. But the Dolphins have enough talent on both sides of the ball to win four or five games in 2011. Quarterback Matt Moore seems to be gaining confidence every week, too. They need a franchise guy at that position badly, but the Dolphins might take themselves out of the Luck sweepstakes down the stretch.
4. Arizona Cardinals (2-6): You have to credit the Cardinals for winning a divisional game without their No. 1 quarterback. They also play in the NFC West, which ensures they'll have chances to win games in the second half of the season. Still, this team really lacks playmakers on both sides of the ball. They'll likely play themselves out of the Luck sweepstakes with four or five wins.
5. Washington Redskins (3-5): Deep down, aren't Redskins fans a little jaded about their 3-1 start to this season? It was nice to be on top of the division after four weeks, but three wins likely takes them out of the Luck sweepstakes. The Redskins need the Stanford quarterback as bad as any team in the NFL. Would anyone really be surprised if the Redskins went 3-13 or 4-12 this season with John Beck and Rex Grossman as their top quarterback options?
