BCS Rankings: 3 Top 25 Teams That Will Lose in Week 11

Austin GreenNov 6, 2011

No Week 11 games will have the mystique of Saturday's LSU-Alabama matchup, but there are still a few games with major BCS implications.

I'm predicting these three ranked teams to lose to fellow top 25 opponents this week.

No. 4 Stanford Cardinal

Andrew Luck and Stanford finally get to prove they're for real when they take on No. 7 Oregon this Saturday.

However, I think they will fail the test.

I've been skeptical of Stanford all season, despite their 9-0 record. That's mainly because they've only beaten one quality opponent this season (two if you count Washington, which I don't).

The Cardinal have been able to hide their sketchy defense because their offense is so dominant. But against Oregon, they won't have the most explosive offense on the field.

The Ducks were able to put up 27 points on the terrifying LSU defense, so I'm expecting them to light up Stanford.

It will be a good ol' fashion shootout this Saturday, but Luck and Co. won't be able to keep up.

Prediction: Oregon 52, Stanford 41

No. 19 Nebraska Cornhuskers

The Cornhuskers 7-2 looks fairly impressive, but their losses were unforgivable. First they got destroyed 48-17 by Wisconsin, then they lost by three points to lowly Northwestern on Saturday.

This week Nebraska travels to No. 12 Penn State, and I have no confidence in them at all.

I think they'll make the same costly mistakes that plagued them against Northwestern.

Prediction: Penn State 27, Nebraska 23

No. 21 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

The Yellow Jackets take on No. 10 Virginia Tech on Thursday in a critical ACC game.

G-Tech upset then-fifth ranked Clemson in their last game, but I don't expect a repeat performance this week.

The Hokies stifling defense is one of the best in the nation, allowing just 15.4 points per game. I think they'll be able to hold dual threat quarterback Tevin Washington in check.

Prediction: Virginia Tech 31, Georgia Tech 21
