BCS Standings: An Undefeated Stanford Has No Chance at BCS Title Game Berth

Mick AkersNov 6, 2011

As crazy as it may sound, an undefeated Stanford Cardinal team with Heisman favorite Andrew Luck leading the way will stand no chance to make an appearance in the BCS Championship game.

Even after the big showdown with the Oregon Ducks in Week 11, Stanford will fall victim to a down Pac-12 this year.

The BCS rankings will easily rank a one-loss Oklahoma and Alabama over Stanford, not to mention a possible one-loss Oklahoma State team.

I think that LSU will go undefeated, so that will leave about five teams fighting it out for the other spot in the BCS title game, and Stanford will be fourth out of those five.

Those five will be No. 2 Oklahoma State, No. 3 Alabama, No. 4 Standford, No. 5 Boise State and No. 6 Oklahoma.

If the teams win out and Oklahoma State falls to Oklahoma in their end-of-the-year clash, I feel the chances to make the BCS title game to face LSU will be as follows.

The most likely team to face LSU would be Oklahoma, followed by Alabama, Oklahoma State, Stanford and then an undefeated Boise State would be fifth in line to make college football's biggest game.

There is way too much that would need to happen to have Stanford even considered as a real BCS title game contender, so most likely they will be left playing closer to home in the Rose Bowl on Monday, January 2, 2012.
