Pacquiao vs. Marquez: Why Pac-Man Will Bruise His Way to Easy Knockout

Richard LangfordNov 7, 2011

The dominant Manny Pacquiao won't even break a sweat before Juan Manuel Marquez will call for smelling salts Nov. 12 in Las Vegas.

This fight is not going to resemble their previous two encounters. Both of those fights went the distance, with one ending in a draw and one ending in a split decision for Pacquiao.

So what's different you ask? Well...

What's Changed Since Last Fight

The first thing is the most obvious. Their ages have changed. Their last fight was almost a full four years ago.

Father Time's ceaseless progression has been more detrimental to the 38-year-old Marquez.

Pac-Man is 32 and still at the peak of his physical capabilities.

It doesn't stop with age. And to be honest, even if these two were the same age, Manny would still be ready to deliver the knockout that hasn't happened in the first two fights.

Manny is a different fighter than he was the last time these two met. We'll let Bob Arum explain that.

Arum said the following, as quoted on philstar.com:

"

"It’s all because Pacquaio will demonstrate that his right hand is awful as the left.

"If it’s the same ‘Pacquiao’ that fought Marquez four years ago who will fight him (Marquez) on Nov. 12, it will be a close fight. But, Pacquiao had no right hand four years ago."

"

Why Marquez Can't Handle the New Pac-Man

To be fair to Marquez, no fighter has been able to handle Pacquiao since he developed his right. Marquez won't be able to either.

Marguez relies heavily on counter punching, but his defense is not amazing enough to get Manny too off guard.

Pacquiao doesn't have to over extend himself. He can deliver a knockout blow from anywhere and anytime.

Pacquiao will be able to pick his spots, and when he does throw his punches, he will land them, and they will be deadly.

Prediction

Pacquiao will knockout Marquez in the fourth round.
