Tim Tebow: Why Competition from Brady Quinn Will Spark Valuable Fantasy Numbers

Justin WeltonNov 6, 2011

Tim Tebow apparently has a short leash with the Denver Broncos. Why? I have no idea. This is just another chip Tebow can put on his shoulder on Sunday when his team travels to play the Oakland Raiders.

Oakland is 25th against the pass and 16th against the rush. Both should bode well for Tebow.

It’s time for Tebow to start the game well instead of waiting until the fourth quarter. He now knows that this could be his last opportunity as a starter for the Broncos. It is time for Tebow to use whatever left he has in the tank and put it all into this one game.

We have seen it time and time again throughout Tebow’s football career. Never doubt what this kid can do because he will surprise you with his heart, pure will and determination. While that might not translate into wins in the NFL, it still may be worth giving him the opportunity to start for your fantasy team on Sunday.

Especially if you play in a 10-yards-is-equal-to-one-point league, running quarterbacks like Tebow have a better chance of reaching double-digit points.

Talk about a wild storyline in Denver this season.

Why wouldn’t the Broncos just ride with Tebow for the rest of the 2011 NFL season to at least see what they have in the guy? How can anybody be a judge of five games in the NFL regardless of how poor he has looked?

If ownership doesn’t want him as the starter (which it apparently doesn’t), then why not give him his share of opportunities to prove he isn’t a good enough player to play in the NFL. It’s not like the Broncos are going anywhere this season anyway.

I understand the fact that he has struggled heavily this season, but Brady Quinn? Really? He won’t win you games. There is a reason why the Cleveland Browns gave up on him after 14 career games played—he stinks.

They think that Tebow isn’t helping the cause with his turnovers? Quinn has a pedigree of turning the football over in his career. He has 10 touchdowns compared to 12 turnovers.

Tebow has done a decent job of not turning the ball over, even if he is constantly being pressured.

He has only five interceptions in five games in his career. Do you know how many interceptions the great Peyton Manning had in his first five games?

12 interceptions through five games.

How many victories did Manning have through five games?

One.

What about Tebow?

Two.

While I’m not comparing skill level or suggesting Tebow is the next Manning, I am saying that you have to at least see what the guy has in a plethora of NFL starts.

People love to disrespect Tebow and quite frankly, I’m not sure how he holds it all together.

In one last attempt at bringing ownership on his side, Tebow will play decently well in Oakland for solid fantasy points against the Raiders.

Will that be enough to keep his job? Probably not. Not with this ownership.
