LSU vs. Alabama: 5 Halftime Adjustments the Crimson Tide Must Make

Nick YokoyamaNov 5, 2011

Judgement Day has finally come.

In perhaps one of the biggest college football games in recent history, the No. 1 LSU Tigers are taking on the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide under the lights in Tuscaloosa.

Tonight's game has definitely not disappointed, as the Tide are looking to gain the inside track to both an SEC and national championship.

With an intense finish expected, here are five halftime adjustments Alabama should make if they want to come out on top of tonight's potential national title elimination game.

Finish Drives

The Tide must finish their drives in the second half. In the first quarter, they were unable to put any points on the board after two long possessions.

Let's hope their early missed field goals don't come back to haunt them.

Short 3rd Downs

Alabama must get positive yards on early downs in the second half.

The Tide were forced into a number of 3rd-and-long situations, which left them with very long field goal attempts. 'Bama needs to concentrate on moving the chains on first and second down so they can open up their playbook on third.

Get Aggressive

The Tide need to get aggressive in the second half. Defense has been the talk of this game, but if Alabama wants to come out on top, they need to start to take chances and let McCarron take a couple shots down the field.

Take Advantage of Gifts

LSU's stud QB Jarrett Lee has only thrown two interceptions on the season, but following the pick, the Tide were again unable to put points on the board. Alabama must make the most of the few offensive mistakes the Tigers make if they want to win this game.

Field Position

Playing the field position game will take a huge part in crowning a winner of this defensive war. The Tide need to make smart decisions with the ball and probably not attempt any more 50-yard field goals.
