2011 Breeders' Cup Results: Havre De Grace Will Rebound from Classic Let Down

Michael MillNov 6, 2011

This year's edition of the Breeders' Cup was full of twists and turns from the start of action on Friday all the way until the final seconds on Saturday.

All day there were discussions on which horse would walk away victorious in the Classic.

Uncle Mo and Havre de Grace were the clear favorites heading into the event.

There were random grumblings of potential upsets from Flat Out, Stay Thirsty or Game On Dude, but the large consensus felt Uncle Mo or Havre de Grace would run away with this one.

Obviously, that didn't happen. In the final seconds Mike Smith and Drosselmeyer shot through the field to capture the win in spectacular fashion.

In the chaos, Uncle Mo and Havre de Grace were forgotten.

Uncle Mo finished the race in 10th, Havre de Grace finished fourth.

Prior to the Breeders' Cup this year, Havre de Grace ran a total of six races. She won five of them and placed second in the other.

Today's fourth place finish is actually the first time she has failed to place in her 15 race career.

Don't let the result fool you, this is far from being the final result in the fillies career. She will be back to race and will likely be back on top before you know it.

Havre de Grace still has another year or two of racing in her. Don't be surprised if you see her name back in the running as a top candidate next year.
