2011 Breeders' Cup Odds: Ruler on Ice and Longshots Worth a Risk
It’s time to lay your money down folks, as the 2011 Breeders’ Cup is just hours away from kicking off.
One of the biggest days on the horse racing calendar is upon us and the excitement over the $5 million prize race is palpable.
The following horses are long shots, but if you are feeling adventurous, a bet on one of these steeds may return big on your investment.
Ruler on Ice
Ruler on Ice is a long shot at 21/1 odds for the 2011 Breeders’ Cup, but the fact that the horse won a premiere race earlier in the season at Belmont Stakes makes him worthy of a bet.
If Ruler on Ice can get a solid start to the race then he will be fine, but the horse tends to struggle when it gets marred back in traffic. The jockey needs to avoid the traffic at all costs.
Stay Thirsty
Any horse with Todd Pletcher as its trainer is a serious contender in my mind, and with a 15/1 betting odds, that’s a long shot I can get behind.
Stay Thirsty showed in his last three races, including two wins, and one of his wins came on a 1.25 mile track similar to Churchill Downs.
To Honor and Serve
To Honor and Serve is one of the hottest commodities on the betting block and the 12/1 odds make putting cash down on the winner of two straight races.
Coming into the Breeders’ Cup this year, there isn’t a hotter horse in terms of winning and To Honor and Serve is a safe long shot if there ever was one.
