Pacquiao vs. Marquez: Pac-Man Needs to Agree to Olympic Style Drug Testing

Michael MillNov 4, 2011

A few days ago the topic of performance-enhancing drugs once again came to the forefront in the boxing community.

Juan Manuel Marquez has been accused by the public after talks emerged that his trainer, Angel Hernandez, has been linked to performance-enhancing drugs.

Hernandez, also known as Angel Heredia, has testified and admitted to providing athletes with illegal substances in the past.

Immediately, rumors began that Marquez could be using.

It didn't take long for Marquez to respond.

“Whatever testing they want to do, blood or Olympic, I am ready to do it. We’ll do it, no problem, as long as he does it too.’’

He, meaning Manny Pacquiao, needs to accept the offer.

Pacquiao doesn't need to accept the offer because Marquez is guilty. In fact, I would be willing to bet that Marquez is clean.

That doesn't mean that Pac-Man should shy away from the offer.

By accepting and doing the tests, Pacquiao will prove once and for all that he has nothing to hide.

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. has said over and over again that the reason the fight between the two stars hasn't happened was due to Pacquiao's refusal to do drug testing.

By doing this test, the pressure falls back on Mayweather to make something happen.

The testing may not have any immediate effect in the boxing world, but it could lead to the most anticipated fight in years.
