Week 9 Fantasy Football Rankings: Projecting Players Good for Major Points

Zach KruseNov 4, 2011

QB Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

Rodgers has earned the right to be the top fantasy option every week, regardless of matchup. Any team—good defense or bad—has been eaten alive in 2011 by Rodgers and the Packers offense.

The Chargers lean more to the good side of things, but there's no reason to think Rodgers can't continue putting up elite numbers this week.

RB Matt Forte, Chicago Bears

Perfect storm on Monday night? Forte has been the most productive back in football and has over 700 yards of total offense in the past four games.

Meanwhile, the Eagles have given up huge chunks of yards to running backs in 2011.

Look for both trends to continue this week.

RB LeSean McCoy, Philadelphia Eagles

McCoy is the best player in football that no one talks about. He has run for 311 yards over his past two games, and his recent success has been the key to the Eagles' turnaround on offense.

Even if he doesn't contribute huge numbers on the ground, McCoy is also a threat in the passing game.

He's a complete NFL running back, both on the field and in fantasy football.

RB Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons

Teams have run all over the Colts this season, largely because the ground game is more widely used when you have a lead. That shouldn't change when the Falcons come to Indianapolis on Sunday.

Turner will likely be a big reason why the Falcons get an early lead, but also the reason why they'll keep it in the second half. Expect a big number of carries.

QB Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints

He has to bounce back, right? After his worst performance of the year, Brees returns home to the Superdome to take on the Buccaneers.

The Saints quarterback has been like two sides of a coin this season. In three home games, Brees has 11 touchdown passes to two interceptions. In four games away from home, he has eight scores and eight picks.

You have to like him in any matchup at home.

RB Arian Foster, Houston Texans

The best fantasy backs, like Forte and McCoy, are the ones that can run the football effectively, but who also make a big impact in the passing game.

Foster does both. He has three games of at least 100 yards rushing in 2011, as well as two games of at least 100 yards receiving. If you don't count a game in Miami where Foster re-injured his hamstring, that's five 100-yard performances in five games for Foster.

WR Vincent Jackson, San Diego Chargers

The decline of Philip Rivers has impacted Jackson the most. However, this week might be a little different for the Chargers' downfield combination.

The duo faces the Packers, who have given up 31 plays of 20 or more yards in the passing game this season. There is no reason to think Rivers can't find Jackson for a couple of big plays on Sunday to get their season back on track.
