World Football Transfer Rumors: 5 Players That Could Be Headed to England
The Premiership currently has no shortage of talent on display, but teams are always on the lookout to improve with quality players.
Some teams—like Manchester City—have a seemingly endless amount of money and though they are off to a fantastic start, they are always linked to new talent.
Some of these cases may come about during the January Transfer window, but others will most likely happen in the summer. Whenever these transfers do happen, the quality of players in the Premier League will be unmatched.
Here is a list of five players that could be headed to England in the near future.
Jan Vertonghen
1 of 5Jan Vertonghen—the versatile left-footed Belgian—attracted interest from a variety of clubs during the summer. Like many Ajax players before him, Vertonghen will soon move on to greener pastures—it just depends when and where.
Vertonghen has been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Everton, along with clubs from other leagues.
The player has ruled out a winter move, but next summer will certainly lead to a transfer. Of all these clubs, Arsenal may have the best chance because they have Vertonghen's former teammate Thomas Vermaelen—but the Manchester clubs have the money.
Everton would be an interesting option but are highly unlikely. Wherever he does end up, Vertonghen will be a more-than-useful addition.
Daniele De Rossi
2 of 5Daniele De Rossi has been a one-club man so far in his career, so it is hard to see him leaving. If he were to go, England would be a very possible destination.
Both Manchester City and Chelsea are rumored to be interested and both teams could use him. The player himself has weighed in on the subject with his own interesting viewpoint.
It is hard to see De Rossi leaving Rome for greener pastures, but if there are two clubs with the cash to lure him away, they are Chelsea and Manchester City.
Edinson Cavani
3 of 5Manchester City is again—unsurprisingly—linked with a top player. For Cavani, they would presumably have to do battle with Manchester United and the premier-money club Real Madrid. Barcelona is also apparently interested.
Edinson Cavani is one of three Napoli players who will be sought after relentlessly in the coming months. Marek Hamsik and Ezequiel Lavezzi are the other two.
If Napoli continues to do well in the Champions League and holds on for a Serie A title, it would be hard to see them letting the Uruguayan forward leave. If he does leave, it would be for a fee of astronomical proportions.
Eden Hazard
4 of 5Eden Hazard has caught the eyes of many clubs, both in England and elsewhere. Were he to head to the Premier League, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea are possible destinations.
Hazard would not come cheap if all suitors lined up at once, but it seems there is a frontrunner at the moment.
The Belgian star would have an easier time adapting in a place like Arsenal—where former teammate Gervinho now plays—but, as usual, money would be an issue. This move is more than likely to happen in the summer.
Marvin Martin
5 of 5Arsenal seem to be the only contenders for this midfield maestro, though a January move is out of the question.
Martin has not really offered much information about a possible move beyond January, and that may actually be a good thing for the Gunners.
For now, Arsenal must hope that no other cash-rich Premier League club gains an interest in the French midfielder, as he would be a great addition to the side.
