Pacquiao vs. Mayweather: Bob Arum Rightfuly Disagrees with Floyd's Prediction

As the boxing world was set a buzz when Floyd Mayweather's camp announced that Money May would be fighting on May 5, 2012, possibly against Manny Pacquiao, promoter Bob Arum isn't buying what Mayweather is selling.

The fight would pit boxing's two brightest stars against each other in a fight that is over three years in the making.

Most fans have given up hope on the fight ever taking place, especially after Arum himself said that it would never happen.

Now that Mayweather has made it known that he wants to face Pacquiao, but without using his name, Arum is still a skeptic the fight will happen.

Arum told CBS News 8 in Las Vegas that he felt the fight wouldn't happen because Mayweather is scared. Even though Mayweather has plans to fight on May 5th, the fact that he hasn't come out and publicly said, "I want to fight Pacquiao," proves Arum's point.

When asked about the blood testing that Mayweather wants Pacquiao to go through Arum said that they have agreed to those tests long ago and that tests wouldn't be a factor in the fight.

Arum had the same tone in an interview with ESPN.com as he called the Mayweather announcement a "sick joke".

Arum also told ESPN.com that he isn't fond of the way Mayweather has put the fight out to the public before any negotiations have taken place, stating:

"Listen, we're not going to consider anything until after the Marquez fight," Arum said. "The way they are going about it seems like a bizarre way to go about it. If you want to put it together, you meet, you talk. You don't just come out and say, 'The fight is May 5 at the MGM.' What kind of negotiation is that? So I don't take what they said seriously."

It could just be Mayweather being Mayweather and trying to keep the attention focused on himself, but for some reason I think this time it is more than smoke and mirrors.

I feel the mega-fight will actually take place on Cinco De Mayo in 2012, giving everyone a reason to celebrate.
