NFL Week 9 Picks: Road Warriors Certain to Dominate Their Opposition

Eric BowmanNov 4, 2011

It's never easy playing away from home, but this Sunday a few teams don't need to be worried about playing on the road.

We've reached the second half of the NFL season now, and teams should be well adjusted to traveling and executing on the road.

A few teams have yet to win on the road this year, but others have no problem with it.

Here are three road teams sure to win in Week 9.

San Francisco

The 49ers will play at the Washington Redskins, and they will have no trouble at all. They have the No. 1 rush defense in the NFL, and they have yet to allow a rushing touchdown all season, which is very impressive.

Jim Harbaugh is the top candidate for Coach of the Year, as nobody expected the 49ers to be this good right now. They're playing with great intensity, and will have no trouble out-dueling the Redskins.

Washington is slumping right now, and the Redskins will continue to fall when the 49ers come into town. Frank Gore will torch this No. 21 ranked rush defense, and Mike Shanahan's offense will find little success for the second week in a row.

Prediction: 49ers 24, Redskins 13

Green Bay

The Packers head out west to battle the depleting San Diego Chargers, who are in desperate need of a win. Unfortunately, they will find it very difficult to stop Aaron Rodgers

The Chargers may have the third best passing defense in the league right now, but they've only faced one elite quarterback, which didn't go so well. Tom Brady demolished them for 400 plus yards, and Rodgers can easily do the same.

Philip Rivers needs to play well, especially considering the Packers defense has been giving up a lot of yards this season. In the end, the Chargers won't be able to shut down a well rested Packers offense coming off a bye, and they will lose their third straight game.

Prediction: Packers 30, Chargers 21

Atlanta

The Falcons are fresh off a bye and ready to roll over the winless Indianapolis Colts. Curtis Painter will feel more comfortable at home, but it won't matter because the Colts defense will have no answer for the Falcons offense.

Michael "The Burner" Turner will thrive against the No. 31 ranked rush defense, and Matt Ryan will find it very easy to make big throws against the No. 30 ranked pass defense.

There's the possibility that the Falcons play to the level of their opponent because they feel they have this win before the game ever started, but Atlanta's offense will do enough to win the game.

Plus, we haven't seen enough from this Colts team to justify them pulling any upsets, especially over a team that is well prepared after their bye week.

Prediction: Falcons 31, Colts 16
