TNA Wrestling: There Was No "Impact" from the Win by Bobby Roode

David LevinNov 3, 2011

When I watched Impact Wrestling last night, I felt a little cheated knowing the outcome before the match between Bobby Roode and James Storm even took place.

Maybe I need to shy away from other stories by featured columnists or stop reading the wrap sheets on what happens in the business.

But now that we have a new champion (and we have a former champion out at least six weeks because of a concussion), it is time to forge ahead with TNA Wrestling.

Like I said the other day, we as fans will accept the changes in the ranks and move forward because we cannot complain about the outcomes and then complain when changes are made. So, we are actually getting what we want.

Roode's win, actually how I thought it would go down, was something of an about-face in the match. I am not sure if it was a bad acting job or just something improvised at the last moment, but it works in a sense because it follows the "Angle" excuse.

Next week, we are sure to see Roode come out and say "you would have done it, too" when confronted by the members of Fortune or James Storm himself or even the fans as he stands in the middle of the ring. From that point, we get to determine whether we are going to like the "heel" Bobby Roode, or we are going to despise him. Either way, we made this bed with him and so we shall lie in it.

There are a few things I want to happen now that Roode is champion—and it looks like he will remain so until a suitable "face" steps forward. Will AJ Styles become the No. 1 contender? Will Jeff Hardy jump to the top? How about giving Crimson or Matt Morgan the top slot after they beat the hell out of each other at Turning Point? What about someone like The Pope?

All of these things will hopefully come to the forefront of the minds of the creative and booking teams.

And hopefully all of this will make an "impact."
