Purdue vs. Wisconsin: Last Minute Spread Info, Line, BCS Impact and Predictions
The Wisconsin Badgers have fallen mighty hard, but cannot afford to dwell on it with Purdue in town.
The Boilermakers, 2-2 in Big Ten play, are no pushovers and the Badgers have been exposed as a bit of fraudulent team of late.
Purdue however, is coming off an ugly loss in the Big House to Michigan.
The Badgers are also coming off an ugly loss, their second of the season. In back-to-back weeks we saw one of the most powerful offenses in the nation undone by conference foes and finished with back-breaking Hail Marys.
Either the Badgers will come out and destroy Purdue, or we'll have one heck of a game on our hands.
Where: Camp Randall Stadium; Madison, WI
When: Saturday, Nov. 5th at 3:30 p.m. EST
Watch: ABC / ESPN 2 / ESPN 3
Spread: Wisconsin -26
This a lot of points to lay on a team coming off a two-game losing streak. That said, they're returning to the friendly confines of Camp Randall Stadium where they've covered every spread so far this year.
Look for them to get back on track and cover.
Over/Under: 58
The Badgers have hit the over in five straight games. Don't expect that to change.
Key Injuries
Purdue: Robert Maci, DE (Out)
Wisconsin: David Gilbert, DE (Questionable)
BCS/Top 25 Poll Implications
Purdue could wind up in the rankings by season's end if they win out, but that seems highly unlikely.
As for the Badgers, they have to hope Penn State falters once before the two square off in the season finale on November 26th.
Any chance of a BCS bowl runs through a Big Ten Championship. There are simply too many other good teams ahead of Wisconsin should they not win their conference.
A win won't do much, but will put them back on the right track. A loss means the season is a complete failure.
Key to Purdue Win
Do what Michigan State and Ohio State did: get lucky. While the Spartans and Buckeyes both played it close all game, they both used completely opposite game plans.
The Spartans could stop the run, but they passed the ball all around the field while the Buckeyes dominated the Badgers on the ground.
Either way, the Boilermakers will need a touch of luck to make it happen.
Key to Wisconsin Win
KNOCK THE BALL DOWN. Seriously though, this a routine drill even freshman football players go through.
Wisconsin is superior to the Boilermakers in every way.
They need to get back to playing their game and being at home will certainly help the cause.
Expect a lot dominant running followed by a few play-action passes and we'll see this game over by the third quarter.
Prediction: Wisconsin 52, Purdue 17
