Week 9 Fantasy Football Rankings: Carson Palmer and Solid Bye Week QB Options

Alex KayNov 3, 2011

Are you one of the lucky few that either drafted Cam Newton or picked him up after Week 1 and have been riding him to greatness?

Are you a proud Matthew Stafford owner during his greatest, injury-free season so far in his short career?

Are you crazy and trotting out Blaine Gabbert or Christian Ponder in your fantasy league that better have at least twenty people in it?

Well, you need to pick up a backup QB for Week 9, as these four-signal callers are resting up during their bye week.

Here are a few solid options to get you through until your regular starter returns next week.

Carson Palmer

Say what you will about the Oakland Raiders' trade with the Cincinnati Bengals to acquire Palmer, but it’s obvious they highly value this guy, and he is going to be their starter for the foreseeable future.

If Palmer is going to get it together this season, it’s going to start this week against the Denver Broncos—a team that gives up the most fantasy points in the league to opposing quarterbacks.

He’ll be playing at home after a bye week that allowed him extra time to learn the playbook, system and personnel on his new team. I think he has quite a good game after his disgusting debut.

Palmer definitely has the highest upside of anyone on this list.

Bradford is gearing up to return to the field on Sunday after sitting out the week that St. Louis upset the New Orleans Saints.

The team is taking it easy on him right now, but he should have his status known a day or two before the game on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.

If he does play, he is an intriguing pickup for a bye-week replacement.

Brandon Lloyd looked excellent out on the field last week and could be even better with Bradford instead of A.J. Feeley throwing the rock.

This is definitely a sleeper play, but one that could pay off.

The Jets have a juicy matchup against the Buffalo Bills and their No. 24-ranked passing defense.

Sanchez has put together some solid games as of late and has built a real rapport with new receiver Plaxico Burress.

Burress is a weapon capable of jumping up and getting any ball in the red area, and he will continue to be a factor in the Jets' quest to return to the playoffs and eventually win a Super Bowl.

I predict Rex Ryan to continue giving Sanchez a high volume of throws and for Sanchez to take advantage.
