2011 Fantasy Football Start/Sit Advice: NFL Week 9
Here’s a look at LestersLegends sit and start advice as you set your lineups for the ninth week of the NFL season.
Quarterbacks
Start:
Ben Roethlisberger vs. Pittsburgh: The inclination could be to sit Big Ben against the Ravens, but he’s averaging 287.8 yards per game with 14 touchdowns to seven picks. The ratio is 13-to-4 since throwing three picks against Baltimore in the opener. This one is at home, where he has a 108.3 passer rating with 9 touchdowns and two picks (84.0, 5 TDs, 5 INTs on the road).
Sit:
Ryan Fitzpatrick vs. New York Jets: The Jets have allowed just 196.7 passing yards per game and four passing touchdowns. With the Jets coming off a bye for a key divisional match-up Rex Ryan will have some wrinkles to trip up Fitzpatrick.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Running Backs
Start:
Jackie Battle vs. Miami Dolphins: While the Dolphins have been solid averaging just 109.9 rushing yards per game with three rushing total, Battle has been steady averaging 95.3 total yards the past three weeks. With so many RBBCs Battle is a solid bye week option because he gets the bulk of the carries both between the 20s and near the goal line.
Sit:
Peyton Hillis @ Houston: Even if he can shake the Madden Curse and play this week, he’s not a good play. The Texans are giving up just 97.4 yards per game.
Wide Receivers
Start:
Mario Manningham and Victor Cruz @ New England: The Patriots are just terrible against the pass. Last week they cut one cornerback and put another on on the Injured Reserve. Both Manningham and Cruz should make strong plays this week, especially with Hakeem Nicks hurting.
Sit:
Greg Little @ Houston: He’s a borderline option to start with, but with Jonathan Joseph locking him down he’s not worth a look this week. The Texans are giving up just 189.4 passing yards per game.
Tight Ends
Start:
Dallas Clark vs. Atlanta Falcons: Clark bounced back with six catches for 77 yards last week. He was forgotten in Week 7 but for he also had six catches in Week 6 against the Bengals.
Sit:
Scott Chandler vs. New York Jets: I know Chandler caught a pair of touchdowns last week, but they were his only targets. Prior to last week he had 35 yards in his previous four games.
Defenses
Start:
Houston Texans @ Cleveland Browns: The Texans rank third with just 286.8 total yards per game allowed and fifth with 18.1 ppg allowed. They also have 14 takeaways and 20 sacks. Cleveland ranks 26th in total offense at 305.7 ypg and tied for 28th with 15.3 ppg.
Sit:
Chicago Bears @ Philadelphia Eagles: The Eagles are running the ball at will. If you try to slow their rushing attack Vick will light you up in the passing game. I’d look elsewhere for a defense.
