Tonight Is the Night TNA Impact Wrestling Will Make History
Tonight, TNA Wrestling makes history.
I hope I'm not the only one who believes this to be true. But in some sense it is true that the course of Impact Wrestling will forever be changed, and in that one brief moment that all of us know is coming, we can safely say we hope it is for the better.
When you look at the current roster of talent, can you think of anyone else besides Bobby Roode that the TNA World Title should be placed on in a “heel” role?
Bully Ray has been great as an enforcer, but he cannot carry the company and sell.
Gunner is not ready. Samoa Joe needs more of a push first.
Forget about Austin Aries, it is not his time. The Pope is good as a face right now, and Crimson and Matt Morgan will challenge a heel for the title.
Then there is Jeff Hardy, who we all know will at one point this year or in 2012 be the new TNA Champion.
Bobby Roode as a heel just makes sense. He and James Storm have taken the “Beer Money” shtick as far as it can go.
It creates a chance for AJ Styles. Maybe it gets Rob Van Dam back in the picture. Ken Anderson and Roode make a lot of sense as a feud. And of course, Storm will have something to say about all this when everything is explained in pain and suffering.
These are the best of times right now in TNA, I do believe, and that is not a Styx song waiting to be played.
We waited and wanted change as fans. And now that we know what will happen, we cannot whine about it. Change, this time, is for the better.
Roode is a great performer and works so much better as a heel because of his mic skills and his aggressive Arn Anderson-style of wrestling. As a face the past few weeks, you saw the timidness of the Canadian, almost like he did not know what to say or what to think.
Now, the world will be his oyster, and the ring his backyard.
Funny how three weeks ago myself, and many others thought for sure it would be Storm who would make the “change” and hurt Roode’s chances of becoming a world champion. Hulk Hogan and Kurt Angle did that.
That will be rectified tonight, however, and rightfully so.
Whether we as fans like it or not.
