BCS Rankings: Top Teams Sure to Be Exposed in Week 10

Donald WoodNov 2, 2011

Another week of college football has passed us by, and another week of complete madness is just days from blowing our minds.

While there will be the unavoidable excitement and fireworks, this week will expose some of the phonies at the top of the BCS standings for what they really are.

The following teams are on upset alert and should be weary of the challenge that awaits them in Week 10.

Nebraska—The Nebraska Cornhuskers are one of the most overrated teams in the nation, and besides their solid running game, the team has nothing going for it.

The combination of Rex Burkhead and Taylor Martinez is great, but as soon as they face a team with a solid run defense and have to depend on their non-existent passing game, their chances are over.

Northwestern is not a great team, but this is the type of game where Nebraska is looking ahead to Penn State and might forget how good Northwestern can be.

LSU—I don’t think I have been more excited for a college football game in the last five seasons than I am for the LSU vs. Alabama game Saturday night.

One of these two juggernauts will have to fall, and this time it will be LSU. Their lack of consistency on offense will be magnified by the fantastic Crimson Tide defense, and they will end up losing in the end.

Alabama’s key to success is top notch running back Trent Richardson and whether or not he can beat the tough LSU defense. The Bayou Bengals haven’t faced a back like Richardson yet, and they will fail to stop him.

Oklahoma—The Oklahoma Sooners lost a heart breaker two weeks ago against Texas Tech, but came back last week and laid a beating on No. 8-ranked Kansas State.

This week the Sooners take on an underrated Texas A&M team that is ready to show college football they deserve serious BCS consideration despite their three losses.

This has all the makings of a shootout, and the lack of defense could see both teams top the 40-point plateau. Prepare for war, folks.
