Fantasy Football Week 9 Trades: 4 Guys to Go Get

Spencer HilliardNov 2, 2011

So far this season it looks like the lockout did put a hitch in some players' steps. Some  just look slower, and some players just look straight up awful.

Here are a few players who have frustrated team owners this season to the point where they are willing to give them away at a fraction of what they are worth.

Vincent Jackson, WR, Chargers

1 of 4

In Vincent Jackson's last three outings he has managed an unimpressive seven catches for 98 yards and no touchdowns.

Jackson owners have to be frustrated with his production and in the past four weeks (including a bye week) he has done nothing for fantasy teams.

What some frustrated Jackson owners won't realize is that his limited production was very much expected by some of us savvy fantasy football players. In his past three outings he has been covered up by Darrelle Revis for the Jets—who shuts down everyone, Champ Bailey for the Broncos—who shuts down everyone, and Brandon Flowers of Kansas City, who Jackson should have fared better against but is still a good cornerback.

Go out there and try to get him while his owners are frustrated with him.

Chris Johnson, RB, Titans

2 of 4

Chris Johnson has been the biggest bust of the 2011 fantasy football season so far. After the 2009 season we called him CJ2K, but now he can be called "CJ Maybe 1K?"

I know many are going to question me and think I am insane to advise trading for Johnson after such a horrible performance so far this year, but hear me out.

The past two seasons this guy has been one of the best running backs in the entire league. It's not like he just all of a sudden forgot how to run the football. I admit I have been waiting for him to get back to his true form with each week that passes, but Johnson owners have to be fed up with him by now.

That's why I am including him on this list. I am not saying go trade for him with someone who expects first round pick production in return. I am saying to go and try to get him for cheap, dirt cheap. If you can't get him for cheap, then leave it alone.

Matt Ryan, QB, Falcons

3 of 4

During Matt Ryan's last three outings, his passing yardage is as follows: 167 yards against Green Bay, 163 yards against Carolina, and 218 yards against Detroit. In these three games he has totaled three touchdowns and four interceptions.

That is some pretty shaky and unreliable production from a fantasy quarterback.

However, this week the Falcons expect their talented rookie receiver, Julio Jones, back in the mix. This gives Ryan back a weapon that he has been missing and his production without Jones has proved it.

Ryan also gets to face the Colts this week who have been horrible against the pass, then the Titans, and also the Saints twice before the end of the season.

We can expect a few big games from Ryan, and if you are hurting at the quarterback position (even just for this week)—go trade for Ryan. He should be pretty easy to get for very cheap.

Miles Austin, WR, Cowboys

4 of 4

For the past six weeks, Miles Austin has not been a factor at all for fantasy teams. He missed two weeks with an injury, then had a bye, and his return from injury has not been anything spectacular.

In Week 8, we had to temper expectations against the Eagles tough pass defense and those expectations were met. In Week 7, DeMarco Murray ran for 250 yards so the Cowboys didn't need to pass the ball, yielding Austin two catches for 16 yards.

However, the next five weeks the Cowboys and Austin have some very favorable matchups and Austin should bounce back. He's got the Seahawks awful secondary this week, then the Bills, Redskins, Dolphins and Cardinals.

Go try to get Austin for cheap while his value is at an all-time low.
