Ranking NFL's Top 10 WRs Based on Strength of Schedule

Brian RoachNov 2, 2011

The top 10 wide receivers in the NFL are easy to figure out. These wide receivers are the top 10 scorers in fantasy football and the NFL, and before I go into ranking based on strength of schedule, I need to rank them based on their skills on the field. The strength of schedule is based on fantasy points against for each team on ESPN.com.

1. Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions

2. Wes Welker, New England Patriots

3. Steve Smith, Carolina Panthers

4. Mike Wallace, Pittsburgh Steelers

5. Greg Jennings, Green Bay Packers

6. A.J. Green, Cincinnati Bengals

7. Dwayne Bowe, Kansas City Chiefs

8. Pierre Garcon, Indianapolis Colts

9. Jeremy Maclin, Philadelphia Eagles

10. Hakeem Nicks, New York Giants

10. A.J. Green, Cincinnati Bengals

1 of 10

A.J. Green goes up against both the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens twice, so it is only natural that he will get fewer yards and scores in these four games.

The other five remaining games are against the Titans, Rams, Cardinals, Texans and Browns. Both the Browns and the Titans are great against wide receivers.

9. Mike Wallace, Pittsburgh Steelers

2 of 10

Mike Wallace faces the Browns twice and also has to face other tough defenses in the Ravens (No. 1) and the Bengals (No. 2).

His other opponents include the Chiefs, Rams and the 49ers.

8. Pierre Garcon, Indianapolis Colts

3 of 10

The Colts face the Jaguars twice, the Ravens and the Titans who can stop wide receivers from scoring.

Garcon gets some help when facing the Patriots, Falcons, Panthers and the Texans.

7. Hakeem Nicks, New York Giants

4 of 10

Hakeem Nicks faces off against many NFC East opponents and they are all great against wide receivers. He faces the Cowboys twice, the Redskins once and the Eagles once.

Nicks will do better because he faces the Patriots—worst in the league against wide receivers—Packers, Saints and the 49ers. They have one more tough game against the Jets.

6. Greg Jennings, Green Bay Packers

5 of 10

The Packers don't really face any tough defense the remainder of the season, besides the Bears.

Jennings will get numerous targets which means more yards and more touchdowns in the remaining nine games.

5. Steve Smith, Carolina Panthers

6 of 10

Steve Smith also has it easy with only the Tennessee Titans in Week 10 that should be tough on him.

His remaining other seven games are against middle-of-the-pack defenses and he should help out the Panthers down the stretch.

4. Jeremy Maclin, Philadelphia Eagles

7 of 10

Jeremy Maclin will do great for the Eagles down the stretch. The Eagles have some cakewalk defensive opponents with the Patriots and the Dolphins. Also, they face some tough defenses in the NFC East as well as the Jets.

3. Wes Welker, New England Patriots

8 of 10

Tom Brady has struggled to get Wes Welker the ball the last several weeks, but he should get his yards and scores in the remaining weeks as he faces some porous defenses in the Colts, Broncos and Dolphins.

They may have the Jets coming up, but they are the Patriots' only really tough opponent. Well, besides maybe the Eagles.

2. Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions

9 of 10

"Megatron" is just too good for any defense to stop and he will be one of the best wide receivers in the second half of the 2011 season.

Johnson will face easy matchups against the Packers twice, as well as the Saints and Vikings. The toughest defense he will face is the Bears.

1. Dwayne Bowe, Kansas City Chiefs

10 of 10

Dwayne Bowe's toughest opponents are the Jets and Steelers, but his other seven matchups are favorable.

He faces the Patriots, Dolphins, Raiders, Bears, Packers and the Broncos twice. This strength of schedule makes Bowe a great option for the second half of the 2011 season.
