Kim Kardashian Divorce: When Holding a Vigil Goes Horribly Wrong
There's usually nothing wrong with vigils.
Vigils can be healing, reassuring and peaceful.
But when a vigil is held after the announcement of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries' divorce, well, that's just borderline lunacy.
After Kardashian announced on Monday that she would be divorcing with the New Jersey Nets' forward, fans sent out a Craigslist invitation for a vigil in the couple's honor in SoHo, New York City.
The response was, well, ridiculous.
One man held up a sign reading, via BlackSportsOnline.com, "Kim, stop making Lamar sad! Why?!?!"
Of course, referring to Los Angeles Lakers forward Lamar Odom, who is married to Kardashian's sister, Khloe.
Like he cares.
Another sign read: "I will remember you, Will you remember me? Don't let your life pass you by, Weep not for the memories."
One man held up some cardboard reading, "If you're a bird, I'm a bird, Kim."
Love was also pronounced "dead" by one woman.
Poetry in motion, folks.
Post-it notes directed at Kardashian also littered windows. And I do mean "littered."
One read, "You don't deserve this!"
Another: "Feel better!"
And my personal favorites: "Divorce is unfortunate!" and "At least it wasn't due to incurable insanity. Amirite Kim?"
I don't know whether to condemn the actions of people who clearly don't have lives or thank them for healing America with laughter.
I've laughed a lot covering various topics in sports, but I may have laughed the hardest after researching this one.
On a seriously note, however, I really never thought it would come to this, America. I can understand Nets fans lamenting, given Humphries played his best with Kardashian by his side. But, as for the rest of you, you should be ashamed of yourselves.
The world I thought I knew is crumbling before my very eyes.
I think I may just hold a vigil.
